A Gambian man has been charged in the United States, on charges that he tortured planners of a failed 2006 presidential coup when he was a member of a special armed unit that reported directly to the country's former and exiled president, Yahya Jammeh. Michael Sang Correa, 41, is linked in reports to have been a member of a feared paramilitary unit known as the "junglers".
Evidence before the country's Truth and Reconciliation commission suggests that the notorious military unit took direct orders from former President Jammeh during his rule, operating outside the army's chain of command. Gambian Journalist Mustapha Manneh is in the capital Banjul, and he now joins us via Skype for more on this story.
