I visited Andrew this week for a 1/2 day immersion training session and it changed my game dramatically! I am 67, a 5hcp at a tour stop course, and played golf for 50 years. He taught me more in his session than I have learned from various instructors over past 10 years. He is an amazing communicator and his knowledge of the swing is amazing. If you are serious about your game you must work a live immersion training session with Andrew into your schedule …great video !

Brilliant vid. This advice is absolute gold. Pete Cowen, (as I'm sure you know), is a huge advocate of this "arms down" move to start the downswing, and I struggled to grasp it, but after watching this vid it's been a lightbulb moment for me. The drill is awesome. You have a gift for explaining quite complicated concepts in a clear and simple way, Andrew. Great channel; please keep them coming.

Andrew, I've listened, and watched many lessons from you, and that was completely on point, thats so good.if someone has never felt a ball being compressed they will be blown away by this video, and it was by mistake when I first learned what it felt like, i was pissed off at the range just got up to the ball not caring ,just gave a natural swinging motion and felt something ive never felt before, a compressed golf shot , i said oh shit is that what its supposed to feel and look like haha. well , i can say my long irons still just brush the grass and the true loft I'm looking for isn't being used, but i know when to take out the hybrid, im a realist,. That said, I'm 60 years old. I'm not Wyndham Clark. Expectations and old bad habits, i believe, hurt most of us. I'm saving this content for range sessions. How fast i forget.Thank you ,Andrew

Sounds like something I need to do, because everything you described, slicing, turning the body too early, etc. are all things that I can't seem to stop doing. At 75, I don't expect to be hitting 300 yard drives, but lately I struggle to reach 200 yards. I try to drop the hands, and it seems to look good on the practice swing, but once I put a ball down, I early-extend and the out-to-in swing path ruins my shot. I will try these tips at the range and hope for improvement!
@AndrewEmeryGolf2 ай бұрын
I’ve no doubt that you’re lacking pivot (depth) at the top! Walk around the circle and shift your alignment and swing direction further right. The trick is keeping your back to the target a lot longer as you change direction! You’re likely spinning when you’re over the ball. Try and ‘push’ the ball out to the right! Best, A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
@garyu69952 ай бұрын
Really clear n effective. The sequence n focus on lead arm leaving the chest which causes the body to turn in response is gold. Focus on full backswing then ‘get lead arm off chest” n the rest of the swing (hips n pressure shift) just follow. Gold!

Hi Andrew you do a lot of content on slicers how about some content for pull draws I suffer from horrible pulls and can't seem to fix it long term
@AndrewEmeryGolf2 ай бұрын
Rodney if you’re a pull drawer you’re closer than you think! As long as you’re not hooking from underneath the plane the same laws apply. You have to create more depth and stall the spin phase. It’s critical that your arms and the club exit more right past the ball. Goal is to shift your swing direction and start line 5-10 degrees further right!!! You’re likely not open with your face so replacing the pull draw with a ‘push draw’ is within reach!! You don’t need a hook lesson! Hope that helps! Best, A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻

Andrew. I am 71 and am fortunate to still generate decent speed. When I do what you talk about in this video the clubhead moves out and around which seems to keep me from hitting it fat and get better compression with more clubhead speed. My question is swinging in this manner my arms roll over as I release. I am told this takes better timing and is harder to control. It feels really good but I do seem to hit more pushes pulls and hooks. Am I on the right track or does it sound like I am off on what o am trying to do? Thanks so much for your great help! Bill
@AndrewEmeryGolf2 ай бұрын
Bill, IF your lead hand grip is a little weak and too high in the palm like so many golfers. The club face is likely too open on its approach to the ball! That requires an excessive rate of closure which is very difficult to sustain. It also leads to shanks blocks and a multitude of disasters if you try and trap the ball. That lead hand is key! You shouldn’t HAVE to roll the wrists. You should be re-hinging your speed past the ball. Very hard to tell without seeing your swing. I’m available for online coaching if you want me to take a look. Best, A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻⬇️ Email: andrewemery.golf@gmail.com

Would a stronger grip aid in not having to twist the club face?
@AndrewEmeryGolf2 ай бұрын
Yes sir! A stronger grip requires a slower rate of closure. The key is matching your release pattern to your grip. I have videos on ‘The Release’ that explain these matchups. Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻

Love your videos. I am 78 pretty good shape but have neuropathy in my feet. That being said using your swing I hit pw 100, 9 iron 120, 8 iron 130, 7 iron almost 150. Then everything else after that is very little difference. Driver is 180. Advice?
@AndrewEmeryGolf2 ай бұрын
Gapping is key - no more irons after 7! Go 6 hybrid, 5 hybrid, 7 wood, 5 wood, 12 degree driver. Hitting ‘down’ on the first four aforementioned clubs, and of course sweeping the Driver! You’re likely hitting everything after a 7 iron too low on the face which strips the loft and has every club act the same! Without seeing you in person I can’t be 100% but It’s likely this would be a good approach! Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻

Andrew, I like your approach, it generally makes a lot of sense! However the method that has helped me build a reasonable swing best (and I’ve tried a few) is Paul Wilson’s body swing. A fundamental in this swing is to absolutely turn the arms off! This doesn’t fit with what you’re saying. It all becomes difficult and confusing when trying to play the game well. Help!!
@AndrewEmeryGolf2 ай бұрын
You have to find what’s best for you, whether it be Milo Lines, Bender, Malaska, Wilson etc. One size will never fit all! Having said that one shouldn’t conflate the FEEL sequence which is what I elude to, with the REAL sequence! I’m all about recruiting the body, it’s a critical element but it’s the arms and wrists that create the majority of speed in the golf swing, control shape and trajectory and what is lacking for 80% of golfers in my opinion! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
@diystompboxАй бұрын
It is true. I started with Paul Wilson (swing machine golf) and even got a hole in one with his swing. But over the years I found it more and more difficult to do and I started figuring out things myself and I got close to what this video described which is move the arms down and to rotate (close) the club face, but it never occurred to me to not turn first. Mostly everyone says TURN first. But Andrew's explanations hit home and I tried it and it worked well and solved several problems I was trying to figure out. Hoping it sticks! It's an easy swing for sure.

Andrew, due to life just getting in the way, I have not been able to practice much until recently. My swing su***. I am casting the club from the top. If I was fishing that would be a good thing. This is such sound advice you’re giving. I was perusing instagram this morning and felt nauseous watching teachers give horrible advice. I have always thought a body driven swing is a bad idea especially for a 55 yr old man in average shape who can’t practice and play a ton. This video is brilliant. I’m sure the coach will do a great job! Ask if they can help educate your wrists and arms?! I’d love to hit a push draw? Is the grip important? I’m not as flexible as I used to be? Any thoughts?? Good questions to ask the coach! The golf ball is the best instructor in the world. If the coach influences the shape of the shot, the contact etc. You had a great lesson! If they’re stuck behind a video camera obsessed with swing positions and you’re hitting it no better at the end of the lesson then take a pass! Best, A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻

Hi Andrew, this is without a doubt one of the most important drills out there. Once you twist the shaft down it sends/releases the weight of the club head directly into the ball. It’s what it wants to do naturally and this move just helps it happen.
