For those who didn't get the difference between David Luiz against Manchester City and David against Tottenham Hotspur, here it is: David played both games by using his full potential but is was Alonso and sari who made the different Luiz we saw against Tottenham. Alonso lacks pace and not good at defending that he is always in need of someone to cover his palce when ever he is out of position. The game against Tottenham, Kovacic and Barkley were not there to cover that space and it was David Luiz whom forced to be out of his position and cover Alonso's space with plent of space behind him and it was very easy for the opponents to pass through him easily. But in the match against Manchester city, that gap was covered brilliantly by Kovacic and Barkley and David Luiz was playing his convert zone and did it well in both games. Excuse my English

It was a great tactical match. Willian & Pedro leaving their natural positions to cover those passing lanes was the trick. Both Silvas were nullified due to it. MANC's press was really amazing in the initial 30 min, everytime Chelsea got the ball and tried to play to someone upfront it was always to a MANC player, which was very much irritating. Kovacic & Kante then started to use those short passing combinations with wingers & fullbacks was good. Goal was definitely a confidence booster & Chelsea were starting to get comfortable. Their CBs always tried to pass sideways to each another. AZPI was really great on his 300th match. KANTE was never out of energy. Alonso was shaky. Hazard played the same role he did in BRAZIL vs BELGIUM. Outnumbering CITY in the midfield seems to be the key with good defensive organization. What say?

This is wrong my friend City absolutely suffocated Chelsea in the 1st half and pressed them so well, Sarri had accepted before the game they would have to defend and sit back and play on the counter, If sarri of played 'sarri ball' City would of ripped Chelsea high line to shreds but Sarri knew he had to change tactics to get a result, City should've been ahead in the game and it would if been a walk in the park, Chelsea would've been chasing showdows like last season, But fair play to them David Luiz found a World class pass and Chelsea did what there team do best is play on the counter and 2nd half Chelsea had the confidence and were amazing in the 2nd half they half more belief they could win the game and they did it well, But in City view they were just not clinical enough in the 1st half and Chelsea made them pay.

Milan Škriniar Wrong. We’ve not been a good counter attacking team at all this season lol, sounds like an excuse. It was only this game that we’ve had success on the counter. Not to mention we were still pressing them very high, at points all 5 players were sitting at the defensive line. City were just really good at getting it out and we were alternated the high pressing and the midblock kinda press.

The truth of the matter is that sarri knew his side is not fully developed to counteract city by perfectly playing his style. So he found an opposing formation to counteract their play and hit them on a deficiency. And that makes sense. Chelsea didn't play a defensive game. They played their way when they had to and created From the chances they had. It was really a collective play. You wouldn't see any pointless longball been played. Every movement or play was bound to a productive something unlike that of conte and mourinho always making things difficult for the man upfront with longball with him against three defenders

Chelsea players were outstanding. What changed though are the tactics. Sarri outwitted Pep. Chelsea would have been top of table if same tactics were used against Spurs and Wolves. Sarri should stick to same tactics against Brighton until Sarriball is better absorbed by Chelsea. All Chelsea players looked like gladiators yesterday. Kovacic presence was instrumental in first half. Chelsea should get him permanently from Real.

Credit to Chelsea for exploiting City's deficiencies on the day. City wasn't as clinical in front of goal may be due to Aguero's absence. Mendy's absence also made a difference. Azpilicueta was amazing 1v1 against Sterling late in the game. Guardiola may have made a mistake in switching Sterling from the right flank to the left as Alonso looked more vulnerable. However, I feel this was because Delph was inept throughout the match and Sane didn't provide him proper support. Switching Sterling to the left may have been a defensive choice to protect Delph than an attacking choice.

Absolutely amazed by the game and how Chelsea have played, everyone thought that Chelsea were gonna get battered by City but this game just proves Sarri’s tactical genius and I couldn’t be more proud of the team for how they played as a unit. Sarri was right that there was no individual brilliance but an amazing team effort. I don’t think Sarri has been given enough praise, compare this game to the community shield, I know most of the main team players weren’t back yet and fully fit, but you can just see how quickly Sarri has implemented his style and philosophy to the players in just a couple of months and that hasn’t been highlighted enough. Can’t wait to see how Chelsea will look in the future after a few good transfer windows and more time under Sarri’s coaching. #COYB
