Thank you! Is the book worth reading for someone who generally does not like fantasy?

Yes, I’d say generally speaking the book could be enjoyed by those who don’t love Fantasy. There are some fantasy elements such as mysterious non humans from beyond the wall and also eventually - dragons lol. But the majority of the book is sort of a feudal struggle for power with shifting alliances, assassinations and betrayals.
