I adopted my kiddo from China and a bunch of families who also adopted from China get together for NYE. We go to a local hotel, have tons of snacks and games, chat and swim, watch the ball fall, stay over and then have breakfast together. We have done that for ten or more years now and it's a lovely tradition

Not sure why people always look to New Years in order to make a change for the better, or change the course they are on. ANY day ending in "Y", is an excellent day to make a new start in any area of your life. Your next day is never guaranteed, so make today count in how you choose, whatever you choose. You are a lovely "role model" Josie, and I agree with your ethos. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!!

Thank you for giving so much of your time. I know this is a real sacrifice to yourself and family. Here in California, we are made fun of for being so nutritionally “obsessed”. We are not obsessed, simply want knowledge on how to stay healthy. When you live in sunshine every day of the year it allows you to be outdoors and experience new ways to stay fit. At 65 I hike, and mountain climb, bike through the Malibu mountainside, and walk 5 miles a day. It’s easy to do when you live surrounded by mountains and ocean. Having been born in the fittest city,Huntington Beach California, this isn’t new to California. We have ALWAYS been made fun of by the other states in America. I say all this to let you. Know, you will always have people who feel you are “going overboard” with health and nutrition. Just remember they can simply find a new place to watch. We all appreciate your experiences. The fact you show laundry in your dinning room is HYSTERICAL. I guarantee you most of us the dinning room for this.

In the process(no pun intended) of reading “Ultra Processed People” by Chris Van Tulleken. Not an easy read but it’s wonderful. I may never eat anything again . Thank you for the recommendation. Sadly, eating super healthy is also very expensive and not everyone can do it. Saturday I am heading to a farm shop near my home (wilsonville, Oregon USA). They sell their own chickens that are not shot full of hormones. They are tiny because they aren’t ultra processed. I’m only feeding two of us so I can afford to buy better and healthier options but not everyone can and that’s very sad. If you look at Americans in the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and even 80’s almost no one was fat. We didn’t have the processed food and we didn’t have fast food restaurants. I remember when TV dinners came out and we thought they were such a treat. We only ate them about 2-3 times a year. But now I wouldn’t touch them. The US FDA just outlawed the use of red dye in our foods. I thought they’d already done that in the 1960’s when you couldn’t buy red M&Ms. So I thought they’d already done that and red food of today was okay but now I learn it has been bad all along. RFK Jr said he’d ban it. Well the FDA did it because just the threat made them change. I think if RFK Jr is allowed to do what he wants to do with our food that we will have a healthier country.

Interesting about ingredients , I’ve noticed the increase use of sulphites. As a 60+ year old who was incredibly fit in younger years and reasonably fit in later years I would say keep it going, don’t stop as it’s really hard to get it back later on as I’m finding out, and finding classes at my level local to me is so hard plus expensive. You are so lucky to have a super gym. Daylesford soups yummy. Excellent idea for the healthy shots. Love you idea on improving cooking, however it really depends on how good your shops are, sadly no Daylesford type shop near me, in fact very low on organic, gluten free, lactose free ingredients. Yes, to batch cooking especially when living on your own.

The dining room looks to be a very poor room to dry washing in as it gets very little sunlight so can risk being cold and damp which can promote mould. I'd recommend a warmer, sunnier room and definitely a dehumidifier! We bought one a few months ago for our utility room - where I'm fortunate enought to have a ceiling 'pulley' - and it makes a huge difference in terms of time the washing takes to dry - the amount of water it pulls out of the air is incerdible!

You do what most people do not. Most rush into things they do not even want because it is the only way they were taught to be and do things. These same people tend to be miserable and complain all the time. I admire people who live to the fullest on their own term, do things for them and live by their own book , not others.
