Hi Jess. So glad I ran into you and your lovely videos. It is so refreshing how you keep your words to a minimum and let our minds enjoy your art, your approach, and your spiritual practices. I am a teacher/ practitioner of yoga for 20 years and have spent the year learning art, from drawing to brushstroke to color, so I feel very connected. Will be watching with love and peace.

I definitely agree that Gansai Tambi is like a hybrid watercolour/gouache. I quite like them, but find they can muddy quickly, so i like using them in a certain way. Lovely to hear you talk about your Zen practice, would be interesting to hear a bit more about it in the future ☺️🌻

Hello Manda Panda! Yes, you're right they do get muddy and I was reminded of that when you and someone else mentioned. They're okay for here and there but no replacement for watercolor. And thank you! I will include more little Zen bits in future videos, I didn't know if people would be interested or not.

nice to find you Jess, Im also an Artist and have spells where I just percolate ideas... feeling the need to create freely soon. I love Zen too and am just back from a family holiday to Japan I like to use the hake brushes for a long time, my goodness.. I just got my singing bowl out a few days ago and made the toning sounds that is so uncanny. :)

Thank you for sharing your gentle weekend Jess. I recently decided to make sure I have one dedicated days of “just being” with no plans or agenda. I call it my “Zen Day”. My Zen day was yesterday. Serendipitously I came across your video this morning! Validation from the universe I’m on the right track! Looking forward to more of your posts!

Oh I love that so much! Yes to serendipity. I would love to hear how your Zen Days go, I have found that intentional times of just being affect so many other aspects of life.

Wow, Jess, this video is everything. There is so much wisdom related to art, peace, and life that I needed to hear. I love that you have Zen and a rosary (much like a pair that I have from my grandfather in Italy). Your energy inspires and motivates me to pursue it all. Much thanks.

Evening from the UK. I started an abstract, exploring shapes and bold colours. I started it Thursday and will revisit in the week, unfortunately I work full-time (teacher, only for another 4 years!) so I’ll have to get back to it when the mood takes me, but that’s ok. 🙂 glad you’re feeling better, being sick sucks ❤

Captain Dingbat! I didn't know that you were a teacher, did I? Anyway, lovely little bit of info to have and may the four more years fly by! In the meantime happy abstracting

@@studioxjess a drama teacher, for my sins! I’d much rather be painting everyday, but that’s the long-term goal 😁 looking forward to your next video, they are like therapy…❤️

Beautiful. I hope you're feeling better. I've been sick for a couple of weeks as well. I'm looking forward to spending some quiet days in my own studio. I have a few more weeks of work (I'm an art teacher at an elementary school) then I'm off for the summer. I love slow early mornings during the summer when I can walk into my studio with some tea and just soak up the sunshine. It also gives me time to think and refresh my spirit (which I'm dying to do in these last few weeks of school). I was a little jealous watching your video ;) Anyway, thank you for that moment of calm.

Hello, I hope you are feeling better and thank you so much for your lovely comment. I love the little glimpse into the lives of the people who I'm talking to. :) I have an ongoing sort of idea about being an art teacher, it seems like an alternate life I could have led. In a way I'm also a bit jealous of you because you have the contrast to the freedom of summer that makes it so sweet. With so much freedom, sometimes it is hard to taste it.

I love these videos. Glad you are feeling better. I haven't tried the gansai Tambi paints bc I heard they do not blend together like typical watercolor. I am just a part time artist for now and I do not have all the supplies I would like.
@studioxjess7 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! Yes, that's true, the Gansai Tambi aren't great for blending, your comment actually reminded me of that.

Relaxing, thanks! What brand paints do you use on canvas?
@studioxjess7 ай бұрын
Oh so many different ones, lukas oils, liquitex and golden acrylics, sometimes house paint!
