Possibly one of the most unique watches I think I’ve ever seen. Classically elegant, using traditional elements yet still seems to be incredibly modern. A difficult act to pull off, yet done perfectly. Stunning.

Moritz Grossmann and Lang & Heyne are two excellent independent German brands. Always nice to see videos about exclusive and unique pieces. I’m sure many viewers are tired of seeing KZbinrs babbling about Rolex and Tudor.

Funny, love your comment. Thank you. I think it is slowly changing and there are clients looking for other brands. That is how I created this design with Moritz Grossmann and Kari Voutilainen. I focus on making unique timepieces and I am well connected with German and Swiss watchmakers. It is a world of discrete watchmaking as many clients do not want their watches publicly shown.

You are getting not only 60k, but 600k value of fun and joy with this watch. That is how I look at it. My client embarked on a journey with Moritz Grossmann, Kari Voutilainen and myself to create this wonderful timepiece. Everybody was so involved and supportive, and without their help we would never have made it. I am a creative brain, my clients knew who to pull everything out from my brain. We have long become wonderful friends as well. I am creating unique pieces with many watchmakers in Germany and Switzerland and everytime this is a great experience.

This watch has been my phone wallpaper for a while now. I can honestly say it’s one of the most beautiful watches I’ve ever seen during my 30yr obsession. This is classic styling beyond watchmaking, and enters an almost ancient Egyptian feel in its use of colour and space. Truly stunning. 👌

Wow, I must thank you for this compliment. In 2020, a client of mine wanted to have a watch made with a guilloche dial and after 4 months of discussion, we ended up with this Moritz Grossmann with the green Kari Voutilainen dial. It then took another 4 months to finalize and we were both blown away with the beauty. I created mostly unique timepieces for my clients and this Moritz Grossmann still has to be the best to date. Appreciate your comment and happy to hear you are using it as a wallpaper. I have it as wallpaper on my laptop as well.

Well done review. My grail watch is a Patek Philippe, but the attention to details by Moritz Grossmann is otherworldly beautiful! Given a choice of this $60,000 watch versus a PP Nautilus at $150,000+ (which is not scarce), Moritz Grossmann is my choice.
@BorisPjanic
@BorisPjanic Жыл бұрын
Thank you, appy to hear you would chose the Moritz Grossmann over the Nautilus. When we started this project to make this watch, we originally thought to make it with Jochen Benzinger. As we went along with my client, we changed and after 4 months of nearly daily discussions of many hours, we arrived at Moritz Grossmann. First I wanted Jochen Benzinger to make this dial, but the plate of this dial is very thin and Jochen wasn't sure if he wants to try this. That is how I decided to contact Kari and he said yes to me. This was a challenging project, but thank you to my client, to Moritz Grossmann and Kari Voutilainen, without whom this would never have happened, we made this insanely beautiful timepiece a reality and made my client super happy who has long become a great friend as well. My focus is creating unique timepieces with all kinds of watchmakers, be they in Germany or Switzerland.

Thank you for this Teddy. I did not know about Moritz Grossmann, and I'm so glad you made this introduction. The watch you have featured on this vid is gorgeous, a true work of art. You can tell the craftsmen/women put their heart and soul into these pieces. I don't even like green that much, but this dial is beautiful. I believe this is what horology is all about, to make something as mundane as the passage of time interesting and enjoyable. And, I learned, at 50 to 60K in many cases, these timepieces are not even that expensive when compared to the likes of Patek Philippe or even A. Lange. Awesome!

What a gorgeous one of one piece Teddy. I confess I do not recall hearing of this brand until this video. The number of man hours to produce this would be huge compared to may other options, the cost and time of the design, the movement and the material used almost make this looks like a bargain. You might find this one a bit out-of-the-box (or possibly out of MY box), but the first thing that came to mind when I saw this watch was the movie "A Series of Unfortunate Events". Then I wondered how to describe that particular art style, and wanted to say "Steampunk", but that's not quite right - it's more subtle and sophisticated than that. So I literally googled "What art style is A Series of Unfortunate Events", and apparently the answer is German Expressionism. Now it all makes sense. And yes I absolutely adore this art style.
@BorisPjanic
@BorisPjanic Жыл бұрын
Your comment gave me a fun laugh, you are describing the process we went through with this timepiece. And, funny enough, the series of unfortunate events turned out a very fortunate result. I would call the style Art Deco. Steampunk would be much different. This is a very subtle design which comes from my own artistic perceptions. I have a rather classy and elegant taste which is why this timepiece came out in such a design. Appreciate your comment, thank you.

I’m familiar with Moritz Großmann and have always been very impressed by their finishing and creative horology. Great to see you’re creating content with some of these unusual and cool brands! Have you done a video on Grönefeld yet?

I recently found a watch that belonged to my grandfather, I opened it up and realized it has a PUW movement. Apparently it's from Germany, you know anything about it? This is a great watch and great video btw. Greetings from México.

Thank you, appreciate it. Teddy did a great job, his video is wonderful. I feel great that he made this video on this Moritz Grossmann / Kari Voutilainen collab which I initiated and created. My client and I had a wonderful journey together creating this timepiece with wonderful support of both watchmakers.

My favorite is the Power Reserve Vintage with the white gold case. It’s so understated but every detail is perfect.

That is just absolutely stunning. I immediately though Voutilainen when I saw that dial. But I hadn’t seen one finished using this tint of rose gold yet. It’s mesmerizing. Small challenge/idea Teddy; are there any Guilloche dial watches available under 1000 dollars that are worth considering? I would imagine they are not handmade, still… I am looking for something that gives me that same feel that I can actually attain. Would love to see a video about ‘attainable Guilloche dials’ :)

I almost laughed when it panned to the shot of the movement! Great watch, finishing is no where near Lange level though. I wouldn’t even say it’s at Patek level
@BorisPjanic
@BorisPjanic Жыл бұрын
The finishing is far above industrially finished lower end Pateks and still well finer and more complex than handfinished Lange. Alone the handset takes a full day of handpolishing by one person. I have been to the Patek and Lange manufactures so I could watch how they work on watches and have seen the difference. It is a staggering difference when you see what they do at Grossmann. This is largely influenced by the small output of 200 pieces versus about 5000 a year at Lange and well over 50000 at Patek. All of them are fantastic watchmakers in their own right. Historically it is hard to beat Patek. I just wanted to share my experience I made visiting the respective brands and hope it gives more insight.

Through out the video, I always thought this would be worth hundreds of thousand of dollar, with it being a one piece unique, and with that level of finishing. But in the end you say it’s around sixty thousands. Even though I can not afford a watch of that amount, I still know it is such a good value. 👍

Love this kind of watch. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. A California watch maker Joshua Shapiro does great guilloche dial work and he also working on his own movement. I am on Joshua's waiting list for his next offering. I am going to look further into Moritz Grossmann . Thank you again. I appreciate all you do.

Thank you for your comment. In 2020, my client wanted to have a watch made with a guilloche dial and after 4 months of discussion, we ended up with this Moritz Grossmann with the green Kari Voutilainen dial. It then took another 4 months to finalize and we were both blown away with the final timepiece as you can see. I create mostly unique timepieces for my clients and this Moritz Grossmann still has to be the best to date. Appreciate your comment. Joshua makes great dials. He is using sofar UWD movements which is a company owned by the same owner of Lang & Heyne.
