i love how present and intentional your work is, even when on the more experimental side 👏 lucid thoughts behind it all 🔥

Thank you, I just your deep dive audio explorations on your last post, also the post before that had an awesome, totally solid intro section, one of my faves.

Ominous indeed! A very delicate balance, I have had similar signal-loss journeys, often resulting in me hyper-fixating on recording the non-reproducible sound as much as possible before it disappears forever.
@loopbasedzero19 күн бұрын
Right!, there's kind of a balance, where most it just doesn't work, I would be interested in slowing these sounds down to 20 - 30 bpm to see what happens.

At first i was thinking how is this so heavy and deep sounding then read the description and was a more interesting technique than woulda thought, really cool result Also videos lookin good with it!

This dying battery thing seems to be a sought-after sound in all sorts of genres, even old-timey blues. I have this Electro-Harmonix "Germanium Overddrive" pedal that's specifically intended to simulate it. But I thought it was just a regular overdrive when I bought it - man was I in for a surprise! Anyway I hope a ghostly head will invade Hamburg - ideally on New Year's Eve. Maybe if I play this song loud enough out the window through my big rig, it'll come true!
@loopbasedzero20 күн бұрын
That sounds like some New Years Eve's I've had, like when I was doing late night radio, I'd open the windows and listen to cargo ships out on the Columbia River and blast out Sonic Youths Confusion is Sex, for anyone who might be listening..

Great stuff. I know I've benefited from similar situations in the past. You can buy/build "voltage starve" circuits that can achieve this effect🍌

Hi LBZ, we need a term to describe the aesthetic exploitation of the malfunctioning. Malploitation??? Phucked-UpPhonics??? Nice images. Your artwork??
@loopbasedzero21 күн бұрын
I have a friend who rhapsodizes about Neil Young's gear team, charged with keeping malfunctioning gear just this side of completely deteriorating. I've also known guitar players who highly prize pick-ups that have depolarized, so that they act like microphones and pick up acoustic sounds rather than magnetized sounds.
@MalleableSound21 күн бұрын
@@loopbasedzero Whereas, I nurse along deteriorating gear because I'm poor!! Definitely a case of 'Phucked-UpPhonics'!!!!
@loopbasedzero20 күн бұрын
@@MalleableSound A good case in point argument for just doing the bedroom studio, you know excactly the status of the gear and can create some controlled chaos.
@urbulibaba8 күн бұрын
fascinating! but, I'm bound to say, you lot (ie electronic musicians) have an unfair advantage on the rest of us, limited as we are by the natural constraintq of our acoustic instruments... Would that a dying snare drum could make a similarly interesting sound! 🥲🥲
