Just thought we’d mention that this week’s 7 Days of Science was going to be longer, but we had to cut a story out this week. We couldn’t find enough solid sources for the story, so (to be safe) it had to go. Sorry for cutting it down - but we hope you can understand!

@@Stroke-it-2-Handed there is absolutely nothing in evolutionary science that says that any one feature can have only one reason for its appearance. Myriad pressures were on these animals and it is likely that we will never fully understand all of them. For airborne animals to have such large structures, they had to have been extremely advantageous.

The "micronova" really got the electric universe/plasma universe crackpots fired up! I mean, just because they're nothing like what these crackpots describe them is irrelevant to them. 🙄 The name, itself, was enough for them to prance around and say "see, told ya so!"
