That island was our backyard for 30+ years! We lived on our boat off and on in Ventura Harbor, just sold our boat last month and now we are in our Rpod 177 🤣 Fun Facts: my best friend & her brother own Island Packers - the company who took you out AND the boat that took you out - “Island Adventure”? I named that boat!!

You had me laughing while you were on the boat, the way you’d pull down your mask and smile for the camera... The views were breathtaking! I watch a channel called “Lady Hawk.“ She uploads videos that she edits from the 24/7 cameras that are installed at various nests...mainly about bald eagles, although she does the Royal albatrosses of New Zealand, and sometimes the California Condors at Big Sur. Uh-oh, I digress... Back to my point-there’s a mated pair of bald eagles on a Channel Island, and it’s unusual in that the nest is on a big boulder, and as the eaglet is learning to fly, it seems like a very precarious place because there’s cactus on one side and the ocean on the other and the camera at another angle! I love your videos, Bex! I live on Social Security disability, otherwise I would donate to you, because you deserve it! I look forward to your next video, Bex! God bless you! See you around, onward and upward bound

. . . and how about the Albatross 15:20 ! 😀
@carolynnunes39223 жыл бұрын
TangleF50 I would NEVER forget the albatrosses, dearly beloved! I’m glad to meet another person who follows Ladyhawke. But if you look at my comment again. You will see that I have included the royal albatross of New Zealand... What I did omit/forgot are the golden eagles in Norway and Romania and there’s another place too, but at the moment I forget where... i’m having a senior moment. I am worried that I’m suffering from more than just me or forgetfulness. I’m slowly losing my memory!
@TangleF503 жыл бұрын
@@carolynnunes3922 OK Carolyn. First I haven't fallowed ladyhawke (yet) but I am a bird lover ! . . . and so I noticed the Albatross with their longest wingspan of all birds on earth ! As for your memory loss, there are safe & effective natural remedies that will solve that problem for you if used correctly. If you will email me I will happily advise you on those remedies ! Go to my YT Profile and find my email, OK ? 😀
@carolynnunes39223 жыл бұрын
TangleF50 I hope that you’ll check out Lady Hawks channel, and there’s also the southwest wildlife foundation, that rescues birds and releases them... I shall email you! 🙏Thank you! I have learned a lot about the royal albatrosses! After the eggs are laid, just before they’re ready to tip the eggshell, they are taken away in a dummy placed in the nest. Albatross take days to hatch, and too many of the chicks were dying of “fly strike.” That is when flies lay eggs and the maggots eat the chick before it can even fully hatch!😱 To prevent this from happening, every single egg is lovingly taken from its nest, incubated and hatched, and then they take away the dummy egg that they had put in the nest, and put the chick into the nest. Since the parents are gone for days in order to collect enough food in their tummies to come back and regurgitate it for their chick... The rangers what watch over the nests check the weight of every chick every week, to ensure that they are getting enough food to eat, and are in the proper weight range for their age... there are so many interesting facts to learn about the albatross! Thank you again for your offer of helping me with my memory. Perhaps you could help me with some other difficulties I have. I am on Social Security disability, and my body is failing me. I have a long list of physical problems. I am in constant pain of all varieties! I have burning pain, itching pain, stabbing pain, and dull aches... The quality of life for me is a steady downward spiral...nuff said!

Bex, beautiful videography as always. I've spent many days at Santa Cruz and many days anchored at Scorpion and several of the other fine anchorages including dropping a lunch hook at Potato. Potato is not usually a good overnight anchorage as the wind can shift and put in a serious lee shore situation. It's a beautiful place though. Thanks again. I live in Ventura, and almost wish I had been out there so I could say hi. Keep up the great work.

The island is 22.1 miles from Ventura, standing at the shore a person 5 ft tall would see a horizon at 2.74 miles and 250ft of the island should be obscured by an imaginary bulge of earth curve if there was one, but with a good zoom camera, one can see the whole of the island...the surface of the ocean is flat.
