A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is so "you think you just fell out of a coconut tree? You exist in the context of all in which you live and what came before you” coded

I hadn't read anything in awhile until I picked up AGGGTM which had been sitting on my shelf for like... a year maybe lol. But, man, this book immediately had addicted so quick. I read not only AGGTM, but Good Girl, Bad Blood and As Good As Dead so incredibly quickly. I also read Five Survive, another Holly Jackson book so fast. I love Holly Jackson's writing. I would love for your thoughts on the other two books if you've read them. Also, please def do a reaction/recap to the show because unfortunately it didn't do the book justice (won't spoil anything) and I would love to know your thoughts

I really like the way this video was presented. I finally read the book right before the show came out, and it was worse then I expected(I’ve heard so many good things about it). I enjoyed the Netflix adaptation much more. It being on screen helped with the pacing, and made the story feel more tense. I was confused as to why fans didn’t seem to like that version, but after watching your video I understand. Tbh I was originally a bit annoyed by her character. But Book!Pip is pretty badass, and I get why people would be upset to see her made a more passive character in the show. Your video really illustrates how good of a detective she is, and it makes me appreciate the story more. I’ll probably give the book another read after this. And I’m biased, but I think you should watch the show too, even though you can’t really talk about it in the same way. It feels more like Pip’s coming-of-age via figuring out what happened vs her actually uncovering the lies of her town and how they led to the Sal being wrongfully persecuted. If that makes sense? I don’t know if you’d actually like it, but it’s worth giving a shot, and I’d definitely love to hear your thoughts on it.

I love thé books so much and the series on Netflix felt so disconnected to it that I watched it as a seperate entity inspired loosely on the novel, the uk version is superior though because some stuff is cut for the US

does the netflix series cover the whole book series or only the "good girls guide to murder book" or is every book another case that pip works on?

Spoilers: Andie is Regina on steroids. She’s wanted and loved no matter what, for someone to disregard her whole person and autonomy to use her and treat her as an object of pleasure for their own wants. Something so trivial in the sense that it’s not needed and can be gotten under any other unproblematic means but instead chose to assault someone with no concern for their choice. That a quick stint of pleasure where the other person has no say is somehow in any way acceptable like living people are just items you get to shop on and turn off so they can’t say anything and the thrill he got from knowing that. Not just once but as a serial assaulter. As if it’s owed to him and as if she owes any thanks to andie for that. She is the top dollar on brand version of herself, not everything is in reference to you and that was the most disgusting way to respond to that. They were both victims in a way and both perps but andie is the worst as well as max and Elliot. Type of people make me wish there was an alternative to the electric chair 😭 that brought me to my boiling point. Max himself, andie carelessly enabling it, Elliot’s disgusting relationship, the hit and run.

Spoiler Ahead: ⚠️ ⚠️ Halfway through the book, I thought Elliott would be revealed as murderer, he would have done it for his daughter (Naomi), and she would be murderer. Then at the end it was revealed that it's Elliott. But for a matter of fact, Andi's body was never found and someone else was a possible killer Then there was a scene that Bell family was seating in the car, when they were called to identify the person held hostage by Elliott. The descriptions about Bells were clear. Dawn and Jason were having different emotions and Becca was different. At that moment I knew that it's Becca. I read the last 150 when alot of chaos was going on around me. Maybe that's why I didn't enjoy it that much. As I guessed about Becca and I think the pace was very different. Not many things happen, but when they start to happen, everything happens suddenly all at once. I don't know. I would rate it 3.5/5.
