There were 2 Dr. Who movies made starring Peter Cushing. You haven't mentioned them. The first one ,Dr. Who And The Daleks gives the account of Dr. Who inventing the Tardis. Cushing has gray hair and is not a Time Lord. The second one has Dr. Who ( Cushing) encountering the Daleks in Dr. Who And The Daleks 2150. These should be included if you want a complete history..

I like how Daleks consistantly look the same throughout the series and the Cybermen are always 'upgrading'.
@apersonwhomayormaynotexist9868 Жыл бұрын
I never thought about that before but it's so interesting to think about, with daleks obsessed with 'purity' while cybermen seek 'progress.' Interesting, however, that the daleks consistently seem so much more powerful than the cybermen, even the far future cybermen who are so ridiculously dangerous that a single one is reason to blow up an entire planet.

One of the coolest facts about Doctor Who is that it's still going because of its fans. As in, the fans who grew up with the show are now _actually_ in charge of it and even brought it back on air after cancellation. Some became writers, some became directors, and some even got to play that amazing character they always dreamed to be. And they're doing an amazing job (not all of them). I'll be there for the 100th anniversary. And I think the Doctor will still be there too.

This is amazing! I'm so glad you mentioned the Virgin Publishing books. Tbh I'd describe the VNAs as: 'that time Doctor Who got super edgy and Ace canonically called the Doctor a "little shit"'. And it was also when for some reason, they wanted to put loads of HP Lovecraft and eldritch lore into the Who universe. Also on another note, the Eighth Doctor Adventure novels were the first time we had some major queer representation in Who. It was the first time the Doctor has seriously considered their gender identity and numerous companions were LGBTQ+. Also in one book Eight canonically has a boyfriend who he lives with.

Tbh most of my minimal exposure to Dr Who came from that KLF song that apparently sampled the opening theme, as well as the Dean Gray mashup with Green Day's Holiday, and the whole topic of the missing episodes out of a general interest in lost media. Never even heard of it to begin with until the Matt Smith years iirc. Regardless, I still watched this in full after suddenly finding it in my feed and it was a lot of fun. Looking forward to the next part.

18 month hiatus? We’ve had bigger gaps between series since it returned in 2005!

I love the 8th Doctor because he was the Doctor of the year I was born, and it's how I remember 2000 new year.

Moffat's first contribution to the show (well, outside niche short stories I guess) being a low hanging fruit comedy sketch says so much about his era it's almost actually funny, as opposed to just mildly depressing.

"The Doctor is an alien who travels through time and space in his spaceship the Tardis." Um, actually her name is "Sexy" Lol No but seriously this video was great. It's really useful for someone like me who hasn't seen classic who

as someone who's barely seen any classic who, this was a really helpful way to get my head around the companions and order of masters - thanks!

As a new era fan this incredible helpful. I watched the first season with william and tried to watch the whole show but is really difficult to find the episodes. the video is extremely fun, reminds me a bit to history of the entire world, i guess. Looking forward to the second part!

This video was fantastic. My limits of classic Doctor Who was the TV film with Paul McGann and watching Tom Baker with my dad (a Brit who grew up in the 80s) and this broke down the rest of it so well. It’s truly a tragedy that we lost so many episodes of the first three Doctors.
