Great stuff. By strange coincidence I spent this morning tieing up Frances variants for the coastal sea trout here in Denmark. Think I'm on to a winner with them, but we'll have to see if the fish agree.

@@SalmoTrutti hope they work for you 🤞 never tried shrimp style patterns for seatrout in saltwater but can't see why they wouldn't 🎣
@SalmoTrutti8 күн бұрын
@SeánWoodsFishing Thanks! Aye- the biggest sea trout I've caught in the salt here was on a size 12 Ally's Shrimp. A lot of the deadliest local patterns are very shrimpy- ones like Pattegrisen, Vaskebjørn or HØtyven Those are quite dressy flies though, and they're fiddly to tie in small sizes. Just now the fish are keyed into small prey like gammarus and sand hoppers. I'm hoping the combination of tiny fly + the provocation from the feelers will do the trick in converting followers to hooked fish.

@SalmoTrutti sounds like great sport over there 👌

I've never heard of this fly! - but it seems like a natural evolution and it looks very effective. This'll be at the top of my list for new patterns to try. I'll bet it outfishes the red version. And I'll bet the cock pheasant tail fibres give more movement than the usual red rump feathers you see on many shrimps. I wonder if there's a way to put them in a dubbing loop to get even more pulsation. I think I might even try moose hair for the tail, flaired a bit. Something I'm curious about is whether the pith in the hackle stems might add a touch buoyancy to offset the hook-drop on larger doubles.

@@timapple6586 hi Tim, this black version has been very popular on the Moy for a couple of seasons now. I was finally converted this summer 😂. My mate tied a few during the week with GP tippet instead of tail to try out
