A few things. I love the chosen monster and setting. Great twist on the hunter being surprised just as the reader was, it really added! If you are going to talk about guns, use proper terms. Clips and mags are not the same things. Only a few firearms use clips: an M1 Garand, SKS, or WWII bolt action rifles. The rest all is mags (magazines). Nobody uses a 9mm in Alaska outside of town. 10mm, .357 magnum, .44 magnum, .454 Cassul, bigger stuff like that. How can Dmitry go hand-to-hand with an animal that can put a pickup of the road, let alone 2?
