I have a chipboard floor, it’s all level and smooth. Can I lay this directly over it?
@fenstoncarter Жыл бұрын
No I wouldn't recommend it. Put down a 6mm plyboard floor on top, secure with coil nails and then latex over the top. Use FG1 or SP101 flooring grade plyboard. It is much stiffer than chipboard it will mean your subfloor is flat and won't flex much. This will keep your LVT attached to it for a lot longer.

Hi, i have a large downstairs area to do throughout hallway kitchen living and wc. Floor isnt great but not good enough to go straight onto. I really really dont want to self level. Is there a underlay i can use instead to glue down onto over the top of concrete?
@fenstoncarter3 ай бұрын
If its flat but not a crazy amount of dips or holes then you can fit onto something like Soundsense crumb rubber underlay. www.footfalluk.co.uk/products/soundsense-cc/. Most of the LVT manufacturers have their own brand of underlay that works with their products.

My floor is carpeted over the top of OSB board, if i remove the carpet and feather finish the joints will this glue be ok to use? Thanks
@fenstoncarter Жыл бұрын
No, I wouldn't advise it. I would fit a 6mm plyboard (flooring grade fg1) on top of the OSB and then prime and latex over the top to fill in the cracks and dents from the coil nails, allow to dry and sand to a smooth finish. The it will be ready for the LVT. This will make a much more stable subfloor and a better finish that will last much longer.

Great video. How many hours do you have before the glue is not tacky anymore? What’s the work time? Or can you lay a few and finish the next day?

So for F46 probably a couple of hours. Depends on the atmospheric conditions but it usually says on the tin.

@fenstoncarter Жыл бұрын
No you need to have a clean, very flat and stable subfloor of latex over concrete or a plyboard floor for this type of floor. If you want to go over another floor you will want a click floating LVT floor. We will make a video on that soon.

Nice job! What is the working time for the adhesive once it has gone translucent?
@fenstoncarter2 жыл бұрын
It remains tacky for a couple of hours. If you give it a little heat with the gun it can re-activate it so you can put some more tiles down. Best thing to do though is get the tiles stuck down in one go. i.e. don't go off to the pub without sticking the tiles to the glue.
@joellucas46247 ай бұрын
Can You glue it to the cement floor of even!
@fenstoncarter7 ай бұрын
Technically you could as long as it is very flat and even. But cement floors rarely are and so it is usual to put a much finer latex finish or even a feather finish over the top and sand it down to get a nicer, smoother surface to fit your LVT to.
@chris0856 Жыл бұрын
Do you require underlay for this?
@fenstoncarter Жыл бұрын
No, you can glue this right to the subfloor. That can be plyboard (flooring grade) or a latex screed floor. The subfloor is key, you need to make sure you prep this floor very well so it is flat and even. If you really need to you can use an underlay like soundsense which is a crumb rubber underlay for soundproofing and glue it to that. Most of the manufacturers have acoustic LVTS and underlays you can purchase form them too. Here is a video on screeding a subfloor: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mWqaYqGEeK1sock

If you’re going on top of floorboards that are so unlevel do you ply them self level comp first ?
@fenstoncarter2 жыл бұрын
Yes, as long as the floorboards are stable then you put down flooring grade 6mm plyboard something like this: fg1-plywood.co.uk/ , then apply a feather finish to cover the gaps and holes from the nail gun or better still a self-levelling latex floor screed across the whole thing. The allow to dry and sand and you are ready for fitting.

Can I varnish over the top, my lavanto flooring is just 3 years old yet very full now… please advise as to what can be used to make it shine again?
@fenstoncarter Жыл бұрын
Hello I would get on the Luvanto about that as they offer a minimum 20 year domestic and 10 year commercial warranty on their products. But the short answer is no. Generally you cannot varnish LVT floors. The are made of plastic and the varnish is likely to strip away the protective layers. You can clean them and they will buff up a little with a product like this: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165474988115?hash=item268713f053:g:v0gAAOSwFkNiVsVm but varnishing IMHO, no. But confirm with Luvanto themselves: www.luvanto.com/contact-us/

I tend to dry fit roughly 5/6 planks width in rooms of that size ,I never go in wet 🤤 ,if Im not fitting that way then I'll just dry fit my starter planks then glue then do my cuts ....each to their own ,as long as the end result is good then who's to judge 👍
