I do lots of primitive camping ( no water available) I bring a squirt bottle that has a pump. Pump and squirt, the stream is stronger, that takes all the gunk off, squirt the sponge, add detergent, soap the dishes and rinse by squirting again. I save lots of water that way since mostly I tent camp solo with my 3 dogs I have to be efficient because they consume lots of water. You can get those bottles in Amazon pretty cheap, get the ones with the lock button to free your hand, you’ll be surprised how much water you save. I’m really liking your videos, very well done with lots of details and good advice, I subscribed now. Thanks!

This is my go to system for car camping. A lot of hiking/backpacking and canoe areas are a far drive from where I live so I do a lot of car camping at less busy spots. Always primitive sites.

@@LoneCrowAdventures I usually use dirt to scrub with and rinse with water. Doesn't sound very appealing but it works well and is environmentally friendly. I guess I am a bit too primitive...

I use a pesticide pump spray bottle it regulates how much water you use and has a nice pressure nozzle just pump and go I plan to cut out the nozzle part and make my own foldable water bag that will hold the water or if I can find one with a screw cap that way I won’t have to carry around a big plastic bottle it’s 3L but it’s bulky
@LoneCrowAdventures4 жыл бұрын
Hey thats a great idea as well! Thanks for sharing!

One concern/technique. The surface of the picnic table could be covered in bird or other animal fecal residue not seen by the eye. I noticed you used the towel to dry the bottoms of the dishes and then placed that towel into the next dish. This could transfer baddies from surface of the picnic table to the clean dishes. I prefer to do the insides of the dishes first and the bottoms last or not at all.
@LoneCrowAdventures5 жыл бұрын
You know I had never considered that. Thanks for pointing that out. I'm sure there is a ton of gross stuff on that table!!!

Man, I completely forgot about dishes. I quit going to a tent camp. Too much dishwashing. And then there is also pooping and showering. And the water, where is it going to go? Do the park have regulations about it?

Some do have regulations with Grey water, others allow you to wash with biodegradable soap as long as your 200 feet from water sources.

Couldn't bar soap save some carry bulk and possible spillage instead of liquid? Also, there are plenty of places grey water of that nature could be poured on the ground; people use it in gardening. Enough so that I think your receiver for pooled used water (kitty litter bucket) is a waste. If you don't need much special space for disposal of water with that type and degree of dirtiness, then you could easily carry that collapsible sink to where you could dump it. What environmental damage could dishwater do? Too much water in one place, yes, the mud puddle effect you mentioned, so that rules out a few places. The residue of the dishes? It's food, so in proximity to ourselves the rotting material is a nuisance, but out in the wild, rotting of formerly living stuff is just the usual order. Bar soap? It's fatty acid salt -- basically food (carbon source) but more alkaline, so it needs to be diluted, but it's no more alkaline than the ash of a lot of oxidized plant material. The perfume in the bar soap? Minuscule. I wouldn't dump it into a watercourse or someplace where it has an obvious short path to a watercourse -- but my reticence to do so would only be because PEOPLE a short distance downstream might want to use it as clean water. And even then it's usually just psychologic; plenty of children drink their own and their siblings' bath water, and they don't get sick from it unless their siblings have an intestinal infection.

What if you don't have that much water, in the middle of no where and you only have your drinking water??
@LoneCrowAdventures4 жыл бұрын
If you are doing dispersed camping I would recommend using cast iron cookware and boiling it with a bit of water to clean it. If you're remote and on a backpacking trip generallt you only have one single titanium cook pot and a spoon or spork so it's not too much of an issue.
