A Guide To FLIER COMBAT - Part 1 - Creatures of Sonaria

If I can recommend any specific status, I’d have to recommend bumping disease higher, and giving disease creatures a better look. Disease is a status that has, probably one of the highest skill expressions in the game, because it’s dependent on quite a few factors. There’s only really 2 disease flyers but both of them are amazing in their own rights. Disease, fundamentally, is the slowest and strongest status. Ever since they buffed the hunger it’s drained to the point of viability, the best way to look at disease is permanent damage. You can lay off bleed burn poison and the rest of the bunch. No matter how long you lay down, your hunger isn’t coming back. This in and of itself pairs very nicely with other status effects. If someone has like 50 disease and 20 bleed, they’re very likely to starve trying to lay off the bleed and go for food. Or if they stand up, the bleed will kill them. This in and of itself is extremely useful, making disease pair nicely with quite literally any status as it’s the only status that outright punishes laying down. However even on its own disease can work wonders. The main thing you need to know when playing a diseaser, is what your fighting and how easily accessible food is to them. An example of this would be oasis, one of the best and worst places for disease. Oasis has exactly 1 food source, making oasis a prime target to just, drain the food of. Once that food source is gone carnivores have to either start killing their own packmates at oasis or die. Herbivores are a bit different, as you can’t drain berries the same way, however eating grass is so slow that you can almost always disease them faster than they can eat grass. The two disease flyers that exist are the new Halloween creature and ripi. Ripi is the higher skill celling of the two, as ripi has low survivability. It does have plague breath to try and alleviate this, but without bites you can easily lay off the breath. Phant can work a good bit better as that thing has a scary amount of survivability, between it’s 60% life leech, bleed immune, and 9% hp regen paired with quick recovery. It’s also better at cleaning up corpses before starving people. Overall disease is a goated status and people just don’t know how to use it right, bc to use it you have to be actively psychopathic and try and get people to either murder there own pack mates or starve.

Salrahn is also a decent disease flier, with cause fear and decent damage.

@@baffsyI totally forgot about Salhran :skull: Tbf he’s frankly just worse Phant. Unless you’re a disease obsessed fanatic there isn’t a point of using Salhran over phant in any way shape or form. Sal fills the same Role of “tanky disease flyer that lives by simply refusing to die.”

In my experience desease it's something that wont ever get stacked enough to cause problems, or if it does you usually deal with it after the battle when you can simply menu to get rid of it. Most players will most likely die because of the dealt damage than from starvation, that's why it's so hard to get any use from this status in the active battle.

While I somewhat agree Disease can be good, I've never been fighting and felt my opponent act differently because of disease. The immediate downsides it gives are lackluster. I don't want every fight to be a slog. It does have niche purposes, but I would rather ask myself: why bother giving someone 100 disease when I can kill them much faster with damage? I myself don't see much value in afflictions, as you can imagine. My general thesis being that if you weren't going to win a fight with 240 damage attacks, how likely is it that bleed would've made any difference? This is an extremely nuanced question considering the circumstances could be a T3 flier vs. a Kora, in which case they're extremely valuable. The reason I don't put much worth into a situation like that is because 98% of Kora's will burn to 3% and then log, so you've wasted 3-5 minutes of your time. Again, this is just what works for me.

I personally main Eigion as aquatic, vaumora/konomushi/noctla if I can get a stored one(I’m poor)for flying, and heibok for land. This vid helped a lot and I love flyers bc how they require skill to use, not only stats.

There are some good arguments to say that acid breath is a very good breath corrosion is one of the most broken ailments in my opinion. Flyers don't have very good weight having corrosion is a very good tool and acid breath provides a way to stack even more corrosion on your opponent.

How could you forget that acid breath is tied with water breath for “Best practically usuable damage breath” ontop of increasing its own damage via corrosion? It does 0.1 per hit, same as Water. Anything above that is either energy, which is super limited and basically doesn’t exist, lightning, which has a cd of 789 years, and so forth. The only thing limiting acid breath is that it’s on the old wheezing man that is Vene, and the slow ass thing that is Jete.

May I include a tip for PC users to try: Try changing your Camera mode from 'Default(Classic)' to 'Camera Toggle' in the settings. Pros: - You won't need to keep your finger pressed down on your right mouse button for your camera to follow and you can focus on flying while fighting. - It's a toggle so it's just one right click to change to your cursor or switch 'FPS Camera mode'. Cons: -Pop-ups that cover the center of your screen and aren't removeable like "You can turn to elder" and the food info like "Berries 0x" can be a hassle. You have to manually revert it to be able to see and use your cursor again.

I know that I say this quite often but Novus Warden is objectively the best flier in the game. Let me lay out the foundations for this creature. The main aspect about playing Novus that most don’t understand is that under 50% hp wardens are immune to every ailment in the game. This pairs well with it’s second ability, cloud breath. While using cloud breath most know to spam breath to heal faster however, you must keep an eye on your health to make sure you’re at or under 49% hp to be immune to ailements. On top of this Novus is only able to be chased down by creatures like Felisio, Glairyn and other Novuses since it can escape to the water. To beat said Novuses wardens are also able to be hit by other creatures for rage WITHOUT turning it on manually (Which is what enables ailement immunity) this also means that if you press warden rage and spam click you are able to do double damage for around 2 hits. My recomended plushies are pigs, cats and maybe even haunt dragons to be able to sap stam so you’re able to catch up to things. Speaking of catching up to things make sure to use Q and E to tilt while gliding to go faster. Make sure to comment so I can answer any questions!

I love playing flixlit, the damage and status is low, but gold breath can guarantee a kill as it turns any creature into completely defenseless, playing solo allows for a chase of minutes till the kill, and with someone else it makes it so much easier for them to get the kill

Well, sad that my favourite Aidoneiscus didn't appear since people often said it's too slow. Which is correct, but I have met people do that flying spin technique and still able to kos them "quite" easily. The problem is, Aidoneiscus isn't good enough when your opponent will run as they sense defeat. Aidoneiscus is made to KILL any creature that will challenge you head on. It doesn't made to kill other land tier 4 or 5

I’d say that flier pvp is 40% fps based due to the fact that a 120-160 fps flier can pretty much tail ride a 60 fps flier because they forgot to patch fps impacting fly turning but they did patch land turning impacted by fps. The other 60% just knowing how to flick properly. Also 240 fps is nearly unusable.
