I've never tried growing hoyas from seed. I love your idea using the spinach container. Great way to recycle. Have you grown hoyas from seed outside a tent? First, (another) big thanks for the support! Those H papaschonii were grown in a prop box until I needed the prop box 🤣 They certainly do not require a tent, which is a pretty niche product. I have two lacunosa ('Super Silver Black' and 'Super Silver') both coming back from the brink of death. To say that we haven't, uh, always gotten along....

I think the ‘specifics’ would be interesting… Especially the different kinds of ‘spots’. I panicked several times only to find out with a lot of research that it was ‘only edema’ and most information out there is vague at best. It would be nice to prevent that panic for others 😊 Things that would be interesting for me personally would be: ‘cold growing Hoya’ (other than the few basic ones we all know about) and perhaps ‘Hoya that need higher temperatures than average room temperature’ ‘Aerating grow tents in summer’ (very specific hmm?) ‘Hard to grow Hoya tips’ ‘Hoya that need a specific medium to grow in’

Oh, didn't know that was a U.S. thing! It's probably not where someone would start their collection, being wayyyy too slow for the new collector, but it's pretty rewarding ☺

@@soberplantguy I have a pretty decent collection of hoya. Aus is VERY slow to get new/rare plants as quarantine is SUPER strict for plant material. It's a long, very expensive, risky process to get permits, go through secure offshore quarantine sites, fumigation/testing and no guarantee it won't be destroyed or will survive fumigation. Once something does get here, it takes awhile to become accessible. I understand and support our strict rules but it sure would be nice to be able to order in hundreds of seeds to prop easily!

@@soberplantguy definitely! I'm from Michigan originally so familiar. But Aus has shall we say "learned the hard way". Which is why we have national problems with non native rabbits, foxes, camels, wild pigs, cane toads and a million and one invasive plants. lol

Im always down for another Hoya basics video. I think, if you have a new perspective and things to add like the smaller nuances, it is extra worth it. An odd question: Do you know if hoya seeds can be stored at all? Or do they have to be fairly fresh from when they pop out of their seed pod?

No doubt fresh is better-but those seedlings I showed … those seeds had to have been at least three months old. But that’s a study of one. Cheers 😊

OMG, I am all about this! His page says "This group doesn't allow Pages to join." I am not a FB person, so do you have to dm an admin? Hey, the best thing for long covid is extra sleep, lots of it! Your body heals through sleep. I wish you the best with it. Yes, I'd like to see a problem vid, such as I have something on a variety of plants that I don't understand. The leaves are green and look fine but it's like they've developed open pours, in certain areas, like human skin. I'm guessing mites, but can't see them.

Sorry Rebecca. I replied to the wrong comment 🙃 I'm so FB ignorant I don't even know what "pages" is. I think about anyone can join, but will get kicked out if they aren't nice. Those open pores could well be edema, where a plant get ver dry, then slurps up way too much water. The cells burst to release the moisture. It's harmless, but permanent. I'll cover that in my Hoya vid, for sure, since it's sooo common. I usually see mite damage more as brown scarring, especially on the underside of the leaf. Cheers from Iowa ☺

I use the pest spray from my diy video (linked in description), but you can spray with just diluted alcohol. Be absolutely certain to spray the whole plant, and surface of the substrate-then flush. Trying to get to get them off is a fool’s errand, as you’ll miss the crawlers and be right back where you were. I hope this was helpful.
