Today it is a very important day in my life. I'm 29 and I just learned about this. Till today I couldn't understand constellations. Great video, one of the best video I've seen in my life. I'll mark this day on the calendar. Now I can see the sky and point to Orion. I used to see Orion all the time (I live in Colombia) but I didn't know that those three stars were Orion 😶 ... I can go and sleep very well, after watching the sky, of course!

Constellations that can be recognized easily are : - Orion (find the 'three kings' or Orion's belt, i.e. Alnitak, Alnilam, and Mintaka) - Scorpio (recognize the sting, the hook-like asterism. This asterism is located near to the center of Milky Way) - Crux (find the four bright stars near the south celestial pole that resembles a cross, or also can be found next to Alpha and Beta Centaury)

I remember bein younger n camping up on my parents land for the night which is in the middle of the woods n no big city near by just a very small town but anyway during that night it was a moonless night meaning even less light making it easier to see more stars.. that night I shit u not I was able to see hundreds of thousands of stars.. like nearly the entire sky was almost just a glowing white n I've always wanted to see that again but have never been able to. It's one of those memories I'll always have but not sure if I'll ever experience again.

A great book to find the Constellations with is H. A. Rey's "The Stars, a New Way to See Them", same guy who wrote the Curious George books. Been in print for over 60 years for good reason. He drew the Constellation lines so they look like the figures they portray. He's been criticized by some, but I personally believe he rediscovered the original outlines. I've used his Constellations for the last 50 years and always know my way around the stars. The one exception is the Constellation of Capricorn. I'm sorry, but it's imagined best as a woman's Bikini Bottom (shows you where my mind is at).

There are a few others, the best of which are Crux (L. cross) and Scorpius. I don't know how much of Scorpius you can see from your latitude, but I see it right overhead and it is spectacular.

So true. Have you checked out Santos Bonnacci here on youtube? He has plenty of great info that agrees with your statement. Some people will never come to terms with the truth, they can't handle it, and would much rather believe in the biblical fairytales which were not only designed to spread good morals but also tell the truth of the zodiac. People have a hard time reading between the lines and only use one side of a double edged sword until it has become dull and boring. Your eyes are open.

The night I spotted the constellation ORION for the first time and bychance, after going to bed I stayed awake whole night checking constellations on KZbin. Next time spotted casseopia and iota casseiopia. Waiting for clear sky to watch great conjunction 😍

I wanted to learn about the stars and Santos was the first thing that I clicked on. I got more than I expected lol. Graham Hancock was talking about the pyramids of Giza being in line with the belt of orion and the sphinx being lined up with Leo when talking about the age of the monuments being 12,500 yrs old. About the dino's, I have been wondering about that myself, you might find it of interest to check out, Lac Manicouagan, QC, Canada, on google maps. It is a huge meteor impact,imo it's epic

from my house's facade i can distinguish ursa major, ursa minor, cepheus and cassiopeia which are clearly noticeable. yet it is rigid and challenging to distinguish drago and booter though they are neighbouring the patterns i cited.

Rule number one when using images: Dont stretch them so big they pixelate. Its not difficult finding images or scanning images so that they will be of standard quality.

The LMC can be hard to find because there is nothing particularly notable in the vicinity. I (-33°) find it by starting from Achernar, locating Hydrus and going from there. As a bonus, this method also finds the SMC.

It might have been a good idea to mention the Pleiades, because I know a few people who often mistake the Pleiades for Ursa Minor. Even I did that at one point, when I was a lot younger. The basic shape of the star cluster does look a lot like the little dipper, but it's far too small and puts out way too much light to be a constellation.

Great video! 👍🏼 It's sad that from these imaginary figures we've made in the sky, connecting stars* that are not even in the same plane--some closer and some much much farther--we've got horoscopes, which some people believe dictate their future 🤦🏽‍♂️ Someone thought that some stars "kind of" looked like a scale, and because the sun at that point was passing through that made-up constellation, suddenly you're a Libra! And now you'll have characteristics associated with the scales, like diplomacy and desire for harmony, while also being indecisive like a scale might shift back and forth 🤦🏽‍♂️ Not only that, but the constellation the sun was passing through about 2000 years ago isn't even the same in that month today due to Earth's wobble, yet we still group people born from Sep 23-Oct 22 as Libras. How silly is it that people not only let their personalities be defined by this, but also believe what their future holds. Anyways, that's my rant. Thanks for an informative video and for stressing the purpose of these constellations - it's just a way for us to group, recognize, name and find key stars. * using the term "star" in its generic meaning

haha. Lac Manicougan, canada, isn't alone in that same little area though. There are several other impact crators north east and north west (Lac A I'Eau Claire & Mistastin lake) that are significantly smaller. What has me wondering is Hudson Bay, with its circular shape, maybe caused by a much much bigger impact than all the others combined? lol Maybe people are right when they tell me that I think to much, I can't help it though, I am a knowledge hound sniffing out things no one cares about lol
