Yes boys Iive fishing but to scared to handle a pike not because of hurting myself just hearing how easily it is to kill a puke being unexperienced so kinda put me off. But I did purchase a ultra light setup for the perch and git a little jack and was having problems unhooking it. If you could cover that maybe it would give me more confidence. i need some advice. i want to get an all reound travel rod so i can lure fish for pollock, then perch and trout. theres a 5-40g rod but im using 14lb mono so apparently 5g lures wont cast well. instead of grttin that rod, should i just buy a heavier rod (15-40g) and use heavier lures? if so, what 15g+ lures are there for perch and trout?
@SnaggedBro11 ай бұрын
We're not to hot on Perch n trout lures tbf mate. We always prefer braid on our lure set ups just so we can feel the bites better. Especially with smaller tackle. Maybe that way you could then throw our 5g lures? Hope this helps 👍🏻

A good casting range of maybe 40-100 will cover you for heavy lures. If you Anna go lighter maybe 10-40/60? Something around those lines anyway. First decide what lures you want to use and how heavy they are.

May be a bit long for continuous casting perhaps. But everyone's gotta start somewhere mate! I think my first one was 12ft tbf. Short rods with stumpy handles are good for casting a lot because they don't get in the way (the rod butt). Be good for a dead Bait tho maybe 🤷🏼♂️ Thanks for watching the channel pal 👊🏼

6:58 the _'bare minimum'_ should have included some information about clubs, licenses & permits. Unfortunately, fishing isnt as straightforward as it used to be 20-25+ years ago. Back then, if you had a rod license, you could turn up at any local canal or river and start fishing. These days, some stretches of canals/rivers/lakes/ponds are controlled by local fishing clubs - They rent the stretch of river/canal/land (which the lake or pond sits upon) from the land owner or the Canal & River Trust and you wont be able to fish stretches of water that are controlled by these clubs & C&RT unless you join them or buy a permit. First and foremost though - You need a *ROD LICENSE* - you can buy these online or at your local post office. Second you'll need to join a club or buy a *WATERWAY WANDERERS PERMIT* - I bought the wanderers permit online so im unaware if you can buy these at your local post office - I dont think you can as the C&RT are nothing to do with the Government - The Rod License is a tax that does go to the government. You could go fishing without any of these licenses/permits but if you get caught and fined by the bailiff, dont come crying 🙃 C&RT will have a complete list of where you can and cant fish on the waterway wanderers page of their website. Money raised from licensing helps maintain and look after the rivers, canals and towpaths - even though some of them do look like absolute bollocks most of the time.
@PegasusBridge12 жыл бұрын
‘It’s better to seek forgiveness than permission’ 🤣
@Rose.Of.Hizaki2 жыл бұрын
@@PegasusBridge1 truth be told. A lot of eastern euros fish my local river and they fish in places where its banned by the club and also by the C&RT so its highly doubtful if they have any license/permit/club membership at all - They still do it anyway. Ive been fishing since last October to the end of march. Never seen or got stopped by a single bailiff. Ive spoken to a few of them on occasion and they all say if they get caught without documentation then they are asked to leave, Bailiffs rarely fine them on the spot. Who is the bigger mug? The guy who turns up and fishes anywhere he pleases or the guy and doesnt get fined or the guy who spent £30 for club membership, £45 for a rod license then a final £23 for a waterway wanderers permit? 🤣🤣 Caught nothing down here this season so i dont think i'll be renewing my club membership.
@PegasusBridge12 жыл бұрын
@@Rose.Of.Hizaki I’m of the firm opinion that lure anglers can politely bend the rules of ‘no fishing’ - we are not setting up camps and staying for 2 days, defacating in bushes and shouting when full of weed and Stella . And often the best spots are those ‘out of bounds’. Now I’m not condoning fishing without a licence - clearly you should have one, and I’m not advocating fishing water that is private - but there’s a lot of ‘no fishing’ signs up that Shouldn’t really apply to mobile roving lure anglers, get up early or fish late and be discreet and you can vastly expand your lure angling horizons 🎣
