Have you ever wondered why Christians celebrate Easter INSTEAD of Passover? Curious about the difference between the holidays or which one you “should” be celebrating if you’re a Christian?

Hey guys! Another Christian here who observes the Jewish appointment times as was instructed. Our family doesn't drink the fourth cup of wine (Cup of Restoration) because of Jesus's and the disciples' examples and we do not set a place for Elijah as we trust in the Word that the spirit of Elijah in John the Baptist heralded the arrival of the Messiah, Jesus. (Matt 11:14) I wish you all a beautiful time spent with family and friends and pray that the Holy Spirit falls like rain.

NICELY DONE! I so appreciate your connecting the dots. Although raised "Christian" my family roots were Quaker. No ritual at all! Now as an 80-yr old convert to Judaism, coming from 50 yrs. as a vajrayana Buddhist and 5-yrs. into the former, I so appreciate Passover seder symbolism, the meaning behind all of it as relevant today (and very universal! Who doesn't love freedom and wish it for everyone?) I admire how this beautiful example of Jews passing on their heritage for thousands of years, with Christians spinning off of it with all good intention has brought them this far. The Seder was added later, much later, even after the second temple writings. My understanding is the Seder plate is a mimic of a Greek festival, so pagan in origin. This is our first time celebrating Passover, so I'm researching. I'm going to go by Exodus 12 (as much as I can, seeing that we do not raise lambs}. Passover blessings to you as we remember our Redeemer lives and delivers us from the hand of the enemy.

I agree with you. Celebrate the Spring feasts according to the scriptural text only. Do not add judaisms traditions, that is what YAH hates and what our Messiah condemned the Pharisees and Sadducees of doing by adding to the instructions of scripture. We read the scripture portions in Exodus 12, Mark and Luke, break bread, and share wine like the Messiah did with his disciples and wash one another's feet.

One thing I got convicted of: if I'm going to eat an egg at the pěsach, I may as well call my self Babylonian and worship Ishtar. Or paint it and bide it, idk. Be careful with seder, meaning order. Like religion versus relationship/covenant kind of deal.

This is wonderful that you do this, as my family does, too! However, the Feast of First Fruits is not the first day after the "high Sabbath," but the first day following the seventh day Sabbath. Passover was on a Wednesday, Seder was Wed night, the start of the "high Sabbath", resurrection was Sat night (end of seventh day Sabbath), aka the first day of the week and the first day of Feast of First Fruits.

@@bfelix7468 Really it's a matter of politics and who's in power. Ishtar/Easter, female goddess, seems to have been carried forward from the Babylonian period, even a reference to (the name ) Esther. Even from the Egyptian period. She's been around a very long time.... Why blame some imaginary force such as "The Devil"? If we view Easter as a positive thing, the appelation of a current delightful concept/holy day in Christian theology, why not thank Ishtar for bestowing this regenerative/birth miracle possibility as something to celebrate?

Thank you for the informational video. Just a quick word. Wine in the bible has a double meaning. Unfermented grape juice and fermented grape juice. Christ's blood represents purity. Therefore, the wine they drink at passover is unfermented grape juice.

It is Jewish tradition so it’s not commanded 😊 I celebrated Passover last night purely with grilling lamb, making a bitter salad and frying unleavened bread on the cast iron.

We have a guide book that walks you through step by step available. Most of the elements are from Exodus 12, but some have been added by tradition over time. We walk through the symbolism of each. Of course, each can practice at his/her own table as they feel led! You'll find that Passover is practiced slightly differently in households all around the world and we're not saying ours is the "right" way, but just how we've experienced it for years after searching scripture and learning.

I'll also add, that when Jesus said "as often as you eat this (communion) do it in remembrance of me" it was in the context of a Passover Seder. You can find that in Luke 22.

There was no prohibition about wine in the bible description, only for bread because the Jewish folks were going on a quick escape trip. The wine was already made (months in advance, right?) but bread is made every day and had to have time to rise, etc. There wasn't time. It's not a prohibition of yeast, but just for the bread production. Crackers are faster - just put the dough on your car hood and be gone!

Elijah returned in the form of John the Baptist. So saith our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Matthew 11 & Matthew 17. Another reference is Luke 1. This fulfilled the Malachi 4 prophecy. We are currently in the little season. Revelation 20.

A good place to start is to read the bible, and not add to or take away. your intentions are good but not according to scriptures. Read how the Passover was instituted, and then you can make Yahsuah happy. You need to select a lamb of the first year, then you select one that is blemish free on the 10th, and you keep this beautiful little lamb until the 14th and slay it at Sundown then follow the instructions. I pray that you will learn to do it correctly so you please the Messiah. God Bless your family.

At Messianic Seders you are offered a choice between trap juice and Passover wine.

You can certainly substitute unfermented grape juice for the drink, or if using standard, alcoholic wine, take only one sip each time. Usually no "wine police" at most seders! Myself, the 4 glasses are usually no problem, but they're small and not that full. But then I regularly thank G-d for his marvelous beverages, almost daily!!!

Leviticus 23 tells us these are YHVH'S feasts, not Jewish feasts, which must be celebrated to perpetuity. Yeshua celebrated the feasts and was Torah observant (Torah means instructions in Hebrew) and since we are Christ followers, we should be imitating Yeshua by also celebrating the feasts and adhering to the instructions of the first 5 books of the Old Testament

Be careful not to add to what scripture says His people should do.... In Exodus I read about the lamb, unleavened bread, bitter herbs....eat with shoes on (being ready to leave quickly if needed) In Luke I read where Messiah broke unleavened bread representing his Body and wine representing his blood The Sedar plate (meal) and that kind of stuff is NOT mentioned in scripture and many of it was adopted after they came out from Babylon...No where in scripture does it refer to an egg...this is a pagan fertility symbol... Yeshua used tirosh, when He instituted communion not yayin. Considering how pure Yeshua's blood is, do you honestly think He would endorse a fermented wine filled with bacteria ( which forms part of the fermentation process) to represent His blood? I believe tirosh (pure grape juice) was used at the pesach meal, not yayin which is fermented wine

The Roman Catholic Church changed it in the 3rd century because they were very antisemitic. They wanted to separate from the Jews as much as possible, so they changed it from the original Passover to following the Spring Equinox.

The celebration of Easter is rooted in the resurrection of Jesus from the dead and was a central focus of the early Christians. The Sabbath was changed by the early Jewish converts from Saturday to Sunday in recognition of the Resurrection and was not borrowed from pagan practice. Fixing the date for Christmas on December 25 had more to do with Jewish tradition than pagan custom. In Jewish tradition, March 25 was celebrated as the date of Abraham’s sacrifice of Isaac, when the Lord promised to send a lamb to complete the sacrifice. It also marked the first day of creation, when God brought forth light. The early Christians easily recognized the connection between Christ the Lamb and the Light and dated both his conception and death to March 25. If the Incarnation occurred on March 25, then it follows that the Nativity occurred nine months later on December 25. As a Christian I do what Jesus asked me to do. Break bread to remember His body broken for me and drink wine (grape juice) to remember His blood poured out for the remission of my sins. I do this as often as I can and not just for an occasion. These Jewish traditions are not for me for I an also a gentile. All God wants from me is to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. This just feels wrong to me as a Christian on so many levels when the communion service was what Jesus left us with and not this whole seder ceremony. 🤷‍♀️

@@calebjones032 I am a South African born Indian. I have an eastern mindset. We leave big parts of our culture to follow the Jesus way when we experience His healing, grace and mercy. I follow what is written between the pages of Genesis to Revelation. As a gentile there is no reason for me to adopt anything Jewish. I am very happy with the simple traditions of baptism and communion. But each to his own. I doubt we are causing God grief because we are all His children.

In less than a minute you show your ignorance of Judasim (which supposedly Chistianity stemmed from). Passover will not be celebrated to perpetuity according to Judaism. Only until Moshiach arrives. At the seder we pour a cup and open the door to the prophet Eliyahu Hanavi who will bring Moshiach, the son of David to the world. The absolute worst form of idolatry according to Judaism is to make the mistake of turning any person into a god and worship them, which it seems Christianity did. In Judaism, we acknowledge and discuss both the strengths and weaknessess of all our human leaders, including even Moses.

Don’t take it as rude. The question is legit. Learn what Orthodox Judaism teaches. Before taking Christianity as the lead. If you are not Jew by birth or by converting you are not to keep as they are to keep. Which in actuality because you are putting Jesus into it you are not so that is weirdly good. The twisting of Passover to include Jesus is definitely not what Passover is all about. No it is not about moshiach (messiah). That’s okay everyone will know one day.
