A-ha's music did change alot with this album compared to their 80s music. They had to change as all of music was evolving in the world at that time. Fans were just not used to this new sound coming from a "new wave synth pop band". I myself did not embrace this album when it first came out, but looking back now their music was awesome in the 90s!! I'm so glad to be able to listen to their catalog of songs now that I did not hear before. Like many others I was not ready for this sound coming from them. I'm glad they were brave enough to change and follow their hearts in music. That's why they are one of the best bands ever. They keep evolving and trying new things no matter what the critics say. Love A-ha forever!!!❤❤❤🎶🎶🎶

I was the one who was completely ready and blown away. Yep, I was shocked when I listen to it for the 1st time. Oh, I would say, listening to Early morning an I call your name for the first time. But then came Slender frame and East of the Sun. and I was mesmerized. It was THE MUSIC I have been breathing in ever since. It is still MY Favourite a-ha record, although I've become a fan when I've heard I've been losing you for the first time 33 years ago. But EOFTSWOTM is the album where band's chemistry was insane. BTW, I don't like their 1st album at all. Maybe bc its more naive comparing to Scoundrel days. And because SD came first for me, It was really hard for me to go back to euphoric and innocent(!!) HHAL. Although Here I stand was a gem.

Their quality is unique and their overall contribution to music isn't acknowledged as much it should be, but I believe through the years gone by and especially now with their last album ''True North'' you just really see how they really evolved, staying true to their values and love to music they just make masterpieces ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Crying in the Rain was actually recorded by Tammy Wynette and the Everly Brothers before a-Ha recorded it, but their version is the first I heard and I do love it.

They look sad. But most of all, disappointed. Why? Because they can see that most of people still see them as “boy band”. The three of them are just so sad sad because no one respects them as musicians. People only looked at them because of the style. Not because of the things they have made. Not everyone can see the maturity in this album. They are just…tired :(

Was mostly country music fan from 1985 until Fall2023. Heard 1 of their songs on you tube and kept looking further, listening to more of their music and realizing what a great band 3:36 they are together and individually.

How I hate their constant complaints... omg! It's unbearable! Of course they were perceived as a boyband. What are they after all? A girlband? It was their pathological reaction and ambitions that had ruined it all. For instance, let's take a look at Paul. Has he created something worthy solo? Nope! No way! Why? There is no sex, no too hot Morten whatsoever, no crazy fans... so go and create! Yet Paul failed in all aspects. Same goes to the rest of the band. Morten uses cheesiness and his attractiveness in his solo career, otherwise his music is lame. Mags.... I feel for him the most He should've make a career as producer, or take a path which Noel Gallagher had taken in his solo career - to become an indie artist and push away whatever was oasis about his music. But Magne I guess wasn't brave enough I guess and it's a tragedy because he's the only talented member of a-ha. I've been a fan of a-ha for 22 years now. And as much as their music has a special place in my heart, I have to admit that they are also the greatest disappointment for me.

@@victoriasmalikova6229 To be honest I don’t agree with you. Morten has said that Pal is the force behind a-ha, so without Pal, there would be no a-ha. All of them don’t like that they still are seen as a boy band. Pal didn’t fail in his solo career. He just wanted to try something different. Not the same thing as “Take On Me”. Pal is very hated among the fans (including yourself), saying that he is useless and hasn’t done a thing. C’mon. You say you’re a fan, but you're saying that their music is disappointing to you. Morten has very good solo albums. Same as Pal and Magne. But no. It’s not “Take on Me”. Pal is the songwriter of the songs (every single one of them). But no. They only focus on Morten’s looks. They don’t need to have songs about sex to be “better”. Magne is talented. Same as Pål and Morten. Not being rude to you but it’s kinda confusing reading your comment.

@@katyalvarado3990 yes, they are a disappointment to me, and yet I'm their fan since "forever not yours" was released. I'm disappointed with their attitude and their constant complaints. They've made a great career, had a dream come true in fact, yet they keep on complaining about how that was never enough. It's disgusting really. Paul even went as far as saying that he wished that men attended a-ha's live shows more than women. How do you like that? As for his solo career.... savoy? The lamest music you can imagine... Lauren can't sing. That's a fact. She's not a musician. Yet Paul keeps on using her terrible vocals and pushing it into our faces. I take that as disrespectful attitude towards his audience. Besides, Savoy's music is lame and empty in every aspect. Go and check their live performance from 2018 and you will see what I mean. It was a disaster really. Trying something different is not equal to doing a real garbage. And to say that Pau has somehow written every song of a-ha is ridiculous for real

As a huge aha fan since early 1985, I didn't really get 1990's East Of The Sun, West Of The Moon CD. I mean, I liked it a lot but I was baffled by the sudden change in style and production. But looking back on it now I suppose it was a natural thing for them to change their sound. The 80's was over and a more stripped-down, less produced sound was now in fashion. I've seen a few interviews with them around this time and that's the one thing that they beat around the bush with. They never directly come out and say their sound HAD to change because of the change overall in pop music.
