Masterpiece! I honestly knew A-HA by the the song "Take On Me". I am so happy that I discovered Unplugged concert by them. The Living Lights in this version is so good that I can not stop listening to it. Morten voice and the way he can arrange melody is beautiful. He starts with his regular voice then he switches to other sound and finally to the more surprising chorus melody. All this on the background of perfectly composed music by A-HA band. Switch between pianos or piano and some other instrument at 3:25 second is also phenomenal. I need to see them live .

As a Norwegian, living in America, I have to say every time I hear “Take on Me” on the radio (it’s at least once a day on certain radio stations), I am surprised that this was the one that became a hit here. Not a bad song at all, awesome video that didn’t hurt them. I dare say that there are 4-5 other tracks on “Hunting High and Low” that are far better than “Take on Me”.. They are such an underrated band here in the US, and offer so much more than “Take on Me”. I’ve been a moderate A-ha fan since the mid 80’s, however their music has grown so much on me over the past 20 years, and the Summer Solstice album shows how talented they really are.

Agreed. I've been a fan since Hunting High and Low came out and a-ha couldn't breakthrough with anything from their follow-up albums, which is a shame. Corporate radio owned stations were not good for a-ha. Morton's voice is amazing and the band sounds amazing as well.

O a-ha, no início da carreira na década de 1980, tornou-se uma grande referência da música pop internacional. Fez sucesso estrondoso, emplacou vários hits nos topos das paradas, marcou significativamente uma geração de fãs que até hoje seguem a banda fielmente. É notório o fato de que os integrantes da banda, depois de "Stay On These Roads", decidiram alterar seu estilo e a forma de conceber as canções. Também são conhecidos por não serem "mercenários" ou "vendidos", como ocorre com muitos artistas dos tempos hodiernos. Provavelmente esses fatores, juntamente com a "separação" do grupo na segunda metade dos anos 90, podem explicar em parte o desprezo da grande mídia, sempre ignorando o a-ha e menosprezando a qualidade da banda! Porém Morten, Mags e Pal conseguiram mostrar no Rock in Rio 2015 o que é boa música de verdade, a despeito do fiasco da organização do evento ao priorizar Katy Perry como "atração principal". No final, quem realmente brilhou e arrasou foram os nossos eternos garotos, ofuscando a "estrela" da noite e mostrando quem ainda manda no pedaço!

Best Bond song ever. Legend in the UK claims that Paul & Magne argued with John Barry over the string arrangement and won.

Apparently John Barry had no involvement at all in the songwriting. The song was entirely composed by Paul Waaktaar and Magne Furuholmen, music and lyrics. Barry only did the arrangements once the finished song was handed to him, and this led to a tug-of-war of some sort between him and a-ha. That's why there are two different versions of the song: one with Barry's arrangements used for the film and released as a single, and the "a-ha version", with more synthesizers and that can be heard on the Stay On These Roads album. So yeah, the collaboration was quite chaotic. John Barry didn't like their attitude, calling them incredibly smug and self-important for a fairly new band. From what I've heard, Paul and Magne started writing the song together without even seeing a single excerpt of the movie or without knowing what it would be about. When Barry told them this is not how you write a song for a movie and that they should at least have a look at the synopsis, Paul allegedly said "nah, it's ok, I'm good. I know it's called 'The Living Daylights', that's all I need to know". And apparently, the straw that broke the camel's back was that a-ha didn't show up at the movie premiere, because they had a concert that night.
