I took the Sunrise Seto sleeper express to Sanagi Island(Sanagijima) in Kagawa Prefecture, (in the Seto Inland Sea)of Japan, which is famous for being full of cats.
Like Tashoro island(Tashirojima), the number of cats outnumbers the islanders.
Sanagi Island is also easily accessible, as a ferry leaves from a port near Tadotsu Station, a limited express stop.
However, if you want to get in touch with the cats, the 9:00 a.m. ferry is the only one available.
From Tokyo, the Sunrise Seto train is just in time.
If you fly or take the Shinkansen, you will need to stay overnight before your visit.
Because of the long distance, we do not recommend taking an overnight bus, which is very hard on your body.
If you are coming from Osaka, you can catch the Shinkansen in the morning, then the express train from Okayama.
Immediately after landing on this island, you will immediately encounter friendly cats.
Cats on this island are not wary of people, but rather, many of them come close to people, or rather, they come close to you.
Since feeding is allowed on the island, many cats come to us for food, and if we had to deal with them one by one, we would have run out of time.
I ran out of time to feed them one by one.
(Laughs.) Note that there are a few cats that will claw or scratch you if they don't get food, so be careful (that's why there is a bandage on your hand).
It was difficult to photograph the jumping cat that jumped at a break in the embankment, but we managed to get a good shot of it.
It was a happy day with many cats that spoiled us regardless of food!
