I love it when you let us into your land! Your videos are great, remind me how good the Beatles were pre Rubber Soul which most people dismiss, your knowledge and enthusiasm is infectious. You make me want to listen to more Beatles!

I just found your channel & it is a gem!! I'm 73 now, when they made their first appearance on Sullivan's show, I was 14. It was such a joy to grow up with the Beatles' great music!! I loved them then & I still love them today!!

Madame, I remember seeing this movie when I was three years old in July of 1964,my sister Belinda took me to see it at the Arlene theater in Longview Texas my home town . I agree with everything that you have said, I still love this movie.

I love that movie! Btw Lars, check out the documentary DVD "The Beatles The First US Visit". It was by Albert Maysles of Grenada TV. I think you'll like it! On the sleeve it says "this is the "real" Hard Day's Night"

I think the quote on the front of Bramwell's book is there to make you think it is endorsed by Paul. But that quote came from an interview from 3 years before the book came out. Paul's just saying that he thinks Tony has a better memory than he does. Maybe he had heard that Tony was writing the book and felt he should put in an early plug? But if Paul did endorse that book, I don't see how he could've read it. Tony claims to be Paul's friend, but he doesn't seem to know anything about him at all. For example, Tony keeps harping about Paul's lack of schooling as a source of jealousy between him and John -- like he keeps revisiting it over and over again. When in fact, Paul is the only Beatle to sit A-Levels. This misconception may stem from the neighbourhood mothers using Paul as a cautionary tale for their sons to stay in school, but he tells the reader that Paul is a dropout without any "qualifications" (O-Levels), giving the impression that the other Beatles all graduated, since he is silent about them. But the opposite is true. I think there might be some emotional truth in the jealousy bit though. Paul failed A-Level art because of the Johnny Gentle tour (hence the mothers?). And while he may have reconciled this in his mind, telling himself the sacrifice was worth it and he didn't need it (which he didn't because he had enough qualifications to get into art college without it, if he had wanted to [don't trust what wikipedia says on this]), getting confirmation of this in writing in Hamburg just as Stu was questioning his future in the band must've stung. Paul had won an art award at school around the same time that Stu had his big gallery showing/sale. So I think Paul has always felt conflicted about himself as an artist and maybe Tony picked up on that. He also claims that George was the only Beatle to have a real job. This is also false. He depicts Robert Fraser as a cowardly drug dealer and ignores his friendship with Paul, which I think Paul would find offensive. So if by pro-Paul, you mean the depiction of a resentful dropout dilettante who doesn't understand the value of money and is strangely absent from his own social life, then yeah, it's pro-Paul. There's a particular scene in the book (which I've never seen anywhere else) whose removal you'd think would be necessary for any endorsement. IMO the only person who comes off worse than Paul in it is Brian. And Robert. AND YOKO. He has a raging hate on for Yoko. So Yoko definitely comes out the worst. Anyhoo, if I were Paul, though, I certainly wouldn't have endorsed this. Fun read though.

I've found that I like Magical Mystery Tour more every time I (occasionally) watch it. It also seems to get shorter, which probably amounts to the same thing. At this rate though, I would have to watch it many more times before I liked it more than A Hard Day's Night.

@@larsland This was a great video! I watched " A Hard Day's Night" on DVD earlier this month and it made me laugh and enjoy the music all over again. My friend in CA saw it in the theatres a week or so ago. It was playing for 2 nights only. I think you should do a reaction to Magical Mystery Tour. If the BBC had broadcast it in color the first time around, maybe it would have done better. In the late 60s they would show it at college campuses in the U.S. I still think "Magical Mystery Tour" is a fun film. Especially the musical numbers.

I think people would appreciate MMT more if they stopped thinking of it as a movie and started looking at it as a visual album, like a precursor to Lemonade, or that truly bizarre long form music video that Paul and Ringo did in the 80s (The Cooler). It was like a music video EP since it contained 3 songs instead of one.

Funny you should mention 'Revolver.' The Dads were instructed to sit back and wait for the release of the Deluxe Edition, just to keep them occupied until your next video. For the record, 'Revolver' is possibly the greatest record ever!

The nuns always taught me to REVISE, REVISE, etc. Get up off the ground, dust yourself off, and continue God’s work! Your work is too valid and your land too sacred to lose your spirit. The songs are very good but the film now looks quite dated. A film of it's time no doubt. Mind you it's nice to see a film before smartphones turned humans into zombies!!
