I’ve got some resort specific starters Thredbo: Lifts (Old, Incidents, Alpine Coaster?), Golf Course Rarely open, Schuss and Lower Funnel Web Never open, resort acquisition of every restaurant, Vertical = Even worse snow at the bottom, Costing a bomb (yet the one I ski the most), just use Another One Bites The Dust for Friday Flat Perisher: Even older lifts, T-bars EVERYWHERE, Traverses, Olympic and North Perisher, pathetic Double Blacks, crowds (I hiked front valley one windhold day and waited 40 minutes for those in the lift line to come up). Hotham (not as familiar with VIC): Blue Ribbon rarely open, “Extreme Zone”, Drift lift? Slalom Gully Buller: Bourke St where every Jerry in Melbourne goes, Horrible snow retention (line), road up Falls: (idk, maybe something on International) Charlotte Pass: Oversnow, ⬛️, The old chair to Thredbo, More crowds on the road in Summer Selwyn: No snow, terrible luck, ⚫️, Racecourse Tbar open once every 5 years Rest (Baw Baw, Ben Lemond, Buffalo, Mawson): Do you even know they exist?

If its snowing, Northstar is actually one of the best around tahoe because theyre relatively protected from the wind, and they have excellent trees. Steep enough to be fun. It might not have kt-22, the mt rose chutes, or the steeps of Kirkwood... But non-northstar mtns might have their good terrain open for 1/4 ski days, while Northstar will probably have their best stuff open 3/4 or 4/4 days.

I know it's a haters guide, but I think Northstar is salvageable in a fix it video. Stop grooming a bunch of stuff for bumps calibrated for progression, thin out some glades, and adjust trails to be windier and more interesting. Make it a slice of New England skiing transported to CA. Granted, this is a lot of work, and not all of it is just doable.

Be honest though, was it all that bad? From the outside we genuinely have no way to tell. Only the online posts 😂
@elijahmiller69253 күн бұрын
@ The online is post is kind of true but I still had a good time and I heard they may be making some changes that make is better for lifties. I started later in the season like at the end of February, I was taking time off from college and it took a while for a resort to hire me because it was kind of spontaneous. I ended up renting a room from someone who lives in the tiny neighborhood next to sky tavern for cheap. I was literally living right next to sky tavern. I didn't have a car at the time but it didn't matter because I would walk down to the highway and hitchike to work with my skis and would usually get picked up pretty quickly. My favorite part of the day was skiing home, I would literally cross the street from rose and ski down Sky Tavern to get home. The posts are true that the management kind of sucks and is corporate, but there were still other lifties my age and it was cool to hang out with. I'm just lucky they didn't fire me because early in my position there was a time someone fell off the lift right after getting on and I was tired and wasn't paying attention fully and waited 5 seconds to stop the lift after the lift had passed over the person multiple times. And they got in on camera and one of the higher ups was watching it live when it happened. So I was actually supposed to get fired but my boss told the higher ups not to fire me and instead I did ticket checking and the magic carpet the rest of the time I was there. So I think it is probably not the greatest ski resort to work at but they will hire pretty much anyone and it's harder to get fired than other places I think. They didn't really give us any ride time, or they did for other people who had been there longer and given the chance to get ride certified, but they don't even let you wear ski boots while you're working only snowboard boots. I think I heard they're thinking of adding an hour of free ride time for all lifties so things are slowly getting better but I'm not sure. I pretty much skiied on all my off days and once Rose went Thursday-Sunday the last couple weeks of the season I went and skied and Palisades and was somehow able to get there without a car, just hitchiking to Incline Village or around there usually and taking the bus the rest of the way. The guy I rented from also had me do some chores for money once the season was winding down before I went home, so that ended up being good.

@ and skiing the chutes after some powder on off days made up for the shitty work conditions, to be honest.

Just get me out on the Kirkwood bunny slopes on one of the those glorious sunny warm California winter days and I'm in heaven. With this much Corporate greed how can anybody afford to ski in the US? Maybe just Musk and his rich tech bros will be happy that there are no little people on the hill. Do you know how much Espace Killy with 600 km of runs and 90 lifts charges for a day pass? 70 euros! That's right not $270 plus for a dozen lifts built in the 1970s. You got to hand it to Corporate America, they really know how to spoil the world for everyone.
