Thank you for your excellent review and analysis. I haven't seen A Haunting in Venice, but after watching your video I am interested in giving it a try. I will check to see if it is available on any of my streaming services.

Thank you! It could be available through Disney. It's still billed as a 20th Century Production, I'm just never quite sure how those get distributed after Disney bought Fox.

It’s on Amazon prime for a low price to buy. Cheaper than KZbin.

Perhaps your right, but I think what the first two films for mee that did not work is that I had seen MURDEER ON THE ORIEING EXPRESS with Albert Finney, and also just this past year the Ustinov film of DEATH ON THE NILE> I did like though on DEATH ON THE NILE, the recent version, one of the lasts liknes in the iflm, I WISH I HAD NOT SAW YOU WORK. this was at least an original film for me, which the other two were not. And yes, I recently saw EVBIL UNDER THE SUN with Ustinov.

I was excited to hear your opinion on this one as I love your poirot reviews. Although, for me, Suchet is my Poirot, I enjoyed this film as well - though I think the atmosphere helped with that. Definitely, better than Death on the Nile and I'd like to know if given the opportunity, what he'd do next.

As an adaptation of the novel, it wasn't good. But as a movie, it was really good. I hope if there is a 4th movie, it takes place in England. Kind of weird all three movies have been "away games" for our Belgian detective.

Have you seen the film, Gosford Park from 2001? It has a star studded cast, and was nominated for a bunch of awards, though feels like a few Christie/Poirot plotlines were mashed together, be interesting to hear your thoughts, either way, many thanks, your channel inspired me to watch The Ustinov TV movies, and finally begin with David Suchet's adaptations.

Having just watched the movie several weeks ago and enjoying it, I was interested in your thoughts of the same. I am not a horror fan either but if I can make a horror movie suggestion….” The Ghost and Mr. Chicken “. Thank you for the content.

That is one "horror movie" that I am a huge fan of. "Atta boy, Luther!" is a common expression around our house. Thanks for your comment!

HI! Unfortunately, when he had the conversation with Rowena in the garden, I realized he was borrowing the motivation from the Miss Marple story NEMESIS where a garden and a relationship with a questionable young man played a part. It bummed me out because up until that point I was excited that I wouldn't know the solution because he had departed from the novel! I didn't like Adrianne Oliver in this film more because she was too young and glamorous and I thought the heel turn was lame. Off the top of my head, Helen Mirren would have been a better choice, more age appropriate but could still do glamorous if neccessary. But still, this is my favorite of the three. And I loved all the shots of Venice, such a beautiful city and it was fun to see it without all the tourists. It felt like Branagh was finally hitting his stride both as a director and as an actor for the series, so I hope that he will get a chance to do another one.

I didn’t like that they made Mrs Olivia American instead of British and I also didn’t like the awful thing she said to Poirot when he realised she was using him as publicity for her new book. She would never talk to him like that. As a stand alone film this is good but not as an Agatha Christie.

If I had to choose I would go with the tv adaptation. I don’t like this one. One of the reasons is the actor who plays Poirot. In the short stories Hastings says his vanity is harmless. Meaning he doesn’t know he’s doing it. Think Sheldon Cooper in season 1 of the Big Bang theory. Also POIROT DOESN’T HAVE A LOVE INTEREST!

Beautifully shot drivel - absolute and unconditional drivel. Little connection with the Christie book - and utter rot in its own right. Laughably bad script. The Christie Estate should never have allowed it - but great grandson James needs the money.

Exactly, he probably doesn’t like Branagh’s version of Poirot himself but he’s only doing it for the money.

Is it a good Poirot movie ... Mhe.. but if you watch it as just a stand alone thing it's not bad! Wierd 😅 I hated the previous two

Triamphant return? He is awful. His Poirot is awful. All his Poirot films are awful.
