A heartfelt tribute to Cecilia R Rosemiller

Cecilia R. Rosemiller (nee Amodei), passed away peacefully in the early morning of October 6 at the extraordinary age of 96.
Born in Philadelphia on February 9, 1928 into a large family of 12 siblings, Cecilia married her beloved late husband Nicholas at the age of 17 and never looked back. For 69 years she and Nick cultivated a home filled with love and laughter in Somerdale, New Jersey, raising their daughter Elizabeth and taking care of three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and too many neighborhood kids to count. She may have been “Cel” to her love Nick, but to everyone else who met her, she was simply known as “Gram,” a name that perfectly captured her spirit of love and nurturing kindness.
If you entered Gram’s home as a friend or stranger, you could be certain she was going to sit you down at the kitchen table and make you something to eat (whether you were hungry or not). Her gravy and meatballs were legendary and her holiday gatherings were magical. Even at the age of 96, she was still flipping her signature Easter fritattas this past April (with a little assistance). She was not one to let any health problems get in the way of feeding her family!
In their free time, she and Nick loved to take trips to Sea Isle City and enjoyed playing the slots in Atlantic City. But nothing was more important to Gram than her family. When her beloved daughter Elizabeth passed away in 1992, Gram grieved with a profound sadness but found great joy in helping to raise her grandchildren and, eventually, great-grandchildren. She loved to reminisce about Betty and Nick, and would gladly share stories with anyone who cared to listen, friend, family, and stranger alike.
Gram had a signature phrase she used at bedtime with three generations of her family. It was meant to bring comfort when someone was lonely, or scared, and it made you feel like everything was going to be alright. Today we use that phrase to say farewell to our beloved Gram: “good night, god bless you, and I love you.”
Cecilia R Rosemiller is survived and deeply loved by her grandchildren; Michael & his wife Kristine Kennedy, Karyn Kennedy & her husband Sean Fitzsimmons, Brian Kennedy & his wife Katie Young and her great-grandchildren; Collin, Alex, Erin, Cora, Cecilia and late Nicholas. She is also survived and will be sadly missed by her many, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and her Godchildren.
Relatives, friends and our neighbors are invited to gather with Gram’s family. We’ll come together in tribute and thanksgiving to share our stories and celebrate her life in faith on Thursday morning between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes 400 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn where a remembrance ceremony will begin at 12:00 pm, Pastor, Rev. Chuck Mitchell officiating. A graveside tribute and the witness of love’s reunion will immediately follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chews Landing.
