Sid was a genuinely good guy. I remember being outside a small town arena with my best friend and we were watching the talent show up because we didn't have money to get in. A lot of guys walked past. Most were cool. Smiled and talked, goofed around with my buddy who was a real character. Sid came by nodded and went in. A few minutes later he came back out, now dressed in his gear. He saw we were still outside and he asked why we weren't in the arena. When we told him we were broke he got us in. I was 13 years old and that made me a Sid fan for life.

Sid was absolutely phenomenal to watch. His intensity and persona was larger than life. He was my generation's Dick the Bruiser, a perfect personification of brutal street justice. If we saw somebody we didn't like, we'd say, "that guy deserves to be thrown in the cage with Sid." And yet, the more I learned about Sid Eudy, the more I learned that beyond the brutal exterior was an intelligent, caring, and complex soul. There was nothing simple about Sid. He will be missed.

I remember a Sid promo from the early 90's where he said "I don't give a damn!" in the promo. That was the first time I ever had anyone curse in a promo. Sid was cool, and he was one of the most believable guys out there. It was like it all just came naturally to him. He doesn't get the credit or the recognition that he deserves. I had the privilege of watching Sid & Booker T wrestle for the WCW belt at a dark show in Cedar Rapids IA in the late 90s. Booker was flirting with a heel turn & came out and started agitating the crowd... when Sid's music hit, the place went nuts! You guys tore it up on a non-televised show, it was fantastic. To us 80s kids Sid was as big a star as you got. We would argue top 10s a lot & as kids who didn't know better he made MANY top 5-10 lists. Especially pre-Attitude era when half of today's stars didn't exist. The fact he was just as successful in both companies is proof of his staying power & the fact that HE started the end of Hulkamania in WWF by being the first heel that was truly loved is quite the footnote. Even though Hulkamania would continue to live on for another 15 years, Sid was the guy that forced the NWO to form.

I'll never know how Sid Vicious held it together during the infamous Shockmaster segment at a WCW Clash of the Champions in '93. In December 1996 after he returned the then-WWF, I attended a double Monday Night Raw taping the night after In Your House: It's Time. After I left the show, Sid autographed something I had and I was fortunate someone else there had a marker/pen because I didn't have one. He was a gentle giant and I'll miss him a lot.

I remember Sid from PWI magazine in 1988. When he debuted in WCW in 1989, he was amazing. He had star power and the fans loved him. My favorite moment was when he won the WWF championship at the '96 Survivor Series. He deserved it. Sid was a star and one of the greatest big men in wrestling.

I remember when my good buddy Big Dave was at the Powerplant and supposed to wrestle Hogan in a dark match. Hogan looks at Dave and says " I ain't wrestling the N-word" hopped on his bike and left. I'll never forget the intimidating presence and intensity captured in those WCW cards from 1991. Next time I learned about Sid was from the WWF Music Volume 2 CD, so that's how I knew a variation of his "Sycho" theme music, but I didn't really start to see his work until I saw him in WCW the 2nd time around in '99 (loved his updated "China White" Sky Scrapers theme and his world title run). His WWF promos weren't so great all the time, but he stayed intense. His 2nd WWF Run before that (where he built up from the Money Inc group, then snapped and bodied Shawn and Bret for world championship gold) was pretty good and I didn't get to see that until I was an adult. of course, you got the legendary "half the brain" gaffe, and the spot that Bischoff forced him into, but I was glad to see him bounce back later on in his life to have that legends spot with Heath Slater (who didn't have kids yet--if you know you know). There's no Brock Lesnar without Sid (and Goldberg). His intensity will never be forgotten.

Watching wrestling growing up, I never knew how much the wrestlers interacted with each other outside of the ring and the televised shows. It's cool watching all these shoot interview years later and seeing that a lot of these guys came up together on the independent scene and worked with each other LONG before we ever watched them on WCW, ECW or WWF. When Sid exploded into WCW back in the day he was amazing. The camera angle as he walked in gave the impression he was about 9 feet tall. His intensity was off the scale. His four world titles seem like he underachieved in wrestling but to us older fans he was awesome. Badly booked by the WWF.

I know how you feel. I lost mine last October to cancer as well. All you can do is take it 1 day at a time. Some days will be harder than others, especially the firsts like Christmas, Mother's Day, and her birthday. Just try and keep the good days in your thoughts, as hard as that may sound. You'll get through it as I am. Never let her pass in your memories.

The first two autographs I ever got as a kid were Sid and Undertaker. I remember being at the garden when he beat Shawn Michaels and the garden cheering for sid despite being a bad guy. He will be missed. Such a great guy and very nice.
