A Hebridean Odyssey: Part 12 - Harris: Tarbert and North Harris

This video is the twelfth in a series that documents a trip taken in May 2022, in which we visited 16 of the Hebridean islands. This and 4 other episodes are video diaries of places visited, scenery seen and roads driven on the Isle of Harris in the Western Isles.
This particular video covers our journey exploring Tarbert and the North of Harris. Tarbert is the island’s capital and ferry port, and just north is the B887, a 15-mile twisting single track road that runs through stunning scenery of mountains and sea. It takes us past Bunabhainneadar, with its remains of a whaling station, past Bunabhainneadar tennis court, the most remote tennis court in Britain, and through herds of cattle to Amhuinnsuidhe Castle and on to beautiful Huisinis Beach. The A859, with its hairpin bends, goes through rugged mountains looking down towards Lewis. Returning back up the A859, we travel the road to Rèinigeadal, the last village to be connected to the UK road network.
