I Worked 39 Years Mostly On Rail Gangs, Tie Gangs Some Line Side Maintenace , Work In Crewe A Lot. Since Seeing This Now Retired, I Will Go Back and Spend Some Time There, The Museum Is a Hometown Grass Roots Done by Volunteers Yea They Have Something to Be Proud Of.

This is great stuff. I had no idea this museum existed. I've always been a big fan of the N&W. I, too, got the opportunity to operate 611 as a fireman. I've fired some smaller, hand fired steam engines similar sized to the 606 in the past, but 611 was by far the easiest thanks to her mechanical stoker. That passenger car was really well done on the inside. That boxcar, 604143 seems to be converted into a MoW camp car, sort of a mobile break room/office for the track gangs. What you said about the caboose bathroom and passenger car bathrooms is true. they even had signs in the passenger cars warning passengers not to flush while they were stopped at stations - so the patrons waiting at the station wouldn't have to smell it until it was cleaned up!
