For the people against High Limit allowing gambling, some quick points to ease concerns: - it’s up to the state’s gaming commission to approve gambling on racing like USAC and High Limit. As someone that lives in Iowa, the IRGC didn’t approve USAC to be bet on like many other states - the books will have very strict limits already and will limit even more if you’re a winning bettor. Had a friend who couldn’t bet more than $10 on USAC outrights. Will only offer odds to win the feature - the books have strict limits because sprint car racing is such a niche sport that it’s likely to have less public bettors and more “sharp” players. They aren’t going to risk losing their ass on something like this Just my .02

Amazes me people don't understand the only people that make money on gambling are the people offering it. I used to work with a guy that bet on everything. He'd win $500 one week and lose $5,000 over the next 2 months. If people want to hand over their hard earned cash on the taking the chance a motor won't blow, a tire won't shred or their favorite driver won't get caught up in an incident that's no fault of their own they are more than welcome to. Seems like way to many uncontrollable variables to me.
@bigbadbrad354Күн бұрын
This is just not true. I'm one of the top 10 winners in nba and nhl on the websites that offer daily fantasy in the USA. There are professionals in everything. Gambling is a horrible problem if gone untreated but to say only the house wins is burying your head in the sand. You want dirt racing to jump up a level? Gambling will bring it. Want a TV deal? need gambling. Those "uncontrollable variables" you are talking about are exactly how top bettors make their money. Those are mathematical equations that can be data crunched and if the odds make it make sense, can be extremely profitable. Cherry picked example for simplicity - kyle larsons odds for turkey night in california. He was +150.... the winner was like 100 to 1. If you were following the entire california swing, you would know those odds were WAY off. The winner had worse odds than kyle busch, who had no laps in a midget life time. Gambling isn't the problem, stupid people are the problem. You don't leave the house and do heroin do you?

I’m not a gambler so I don’t see the need for it. I have other things I’d rather blow money on. I think the likelihood of a fix is just as good as in the stick and ball sports. If it generates income that makes dirt racing stronger then I guess that would be the goal in my opinion. It’s hard for me because I love dirt racing and don’t want to see it compromised. Thanks Justin

Still not happy about grassroots racing sports betting. In general I'm not happy with sports betting, but specifically for racing like this, where the majority of the field works a day job, I just think its a ticking time bomb. I don't want a literal high schooler, a mechanic, or any other somewhat public facing employee to spin and in some way be culpable for the loss of a large sum of money by an irate gambler. This isn't pro or even major college sports, where there's some level of large institutional protection from the effects of this, these people are left on their own throughout the week to deal with the fallout.

Most people that have race horses are no different than people who own a sprint car or late model team .Of course there are the big money million dollar stables backed by the very rich just like that of some race teams . There is already gambling in England on motorsports like Speedway(motorcycle) racing which has been very successful .

Drivers can rig races between themselves and win their bets to pad their overall earnings. Look into horse racing and it's 150 year history of jockeys and harness drivers rigging race outcomes. This is the peril if race drivers get greedy.

I think the bigger issue with gambling in racing is it opens the door for more emotional fan base. Not saying it's going to happen, just don't think this is a great path to generate more revenue. And if you're just using the gambling as a sudo promotion tactic do you really want to pull that type of crowd into racing. The biggest beauty of dirt racing is the family friendly wholesome fan base. I have never been to a track and had a negative experience with another fan. I'm sure it happens just have never personally experienced it. People are already emotional to a degree about their driver winning or losing. I believe throwing money into that mix is a recipe for disaster.

As a sprint car driver myself I can say that it is 100% impossible to rig races. The track conditions can change with the blink of an eye, and mechanical failures can happen at any moment. The only way that races can be rigged in my opinion is sudden disqualifications for no reason. If you have a different opinion, feel free to respond to my comment.
