Bamboo is an exceptionally good wood (actually its' a type of grass) for hiking staffs. It is light weight, ounce for ounce, much stronger than wood. I made a walking stick about 10 years ago, coated the barrel under the wrap with contact cement and then wrapped with plain old sisal twine. The wrap never came loose and I've been using it constantly for 10 years. Good video for a fun hobby😀😀Cheers.

I have been doing this myself for many years. I like to cut my stuff to the height of my eyes and use it as a monopod for my binoculars. I dipped the bottom tip in rubber cement to install the end cap. I also cut a 30 inch soft leather strap and lace it to the upper end. Back in the 80s people would tease me and call me Moses. Not long after everybody had one.

Great idea for your binoculars! I will try the dipping and have used leather straps and webbing for wood sticks! Great to hear from you Moses! Thank you!

Where in the US can you get bamboo like that? Here in the southwest it's too dry for Tonkin bamboo.

Good morning! There are huge patches of Bamboo in people’s yards throughout NJ. And to a detriment where towns have ordinances not to grow this invasive (beautiful) plant. Do you make cane rods? Thank you for watching!!

I do make bambo rods. I'd ho crazy for a truck load of that bamboo. Love your channel. Glad I found you.
