One would wonder what kind of feeling one would get about themselves from a social media post with fake speeds haha. Good pointing that out. Anyway, the answer is clearly the gps-speedsurfing.com platform, who have been taking this speed windsurfing serious since probably before you were windsurfing (sense of humour, but it might be true haha). But it's very simple: if it isn't on gps-speedsurfing.com it doesn't exist. :) But please don't disrespect this specific discipline of our amazing sport. There's a lot of people enjoying this discipline. It makes me challenge and improve myself each and every session. Please don't take away from that. Instead, I'd like to see more PWA riders post speeds and especially tell more about the conditions of the day. There's crucial info there to share. It's your channel, but I hope to see also a more constructive vlog episode about speedsurfing. We all know you are fast,. So show them how it's done properly then :)
@MaciekRutkowski3 жыл бұрын
Definetely not trying to disrespect anyone I’m hugely impressed by the dedication of the speed guys chasing conditions, working on their gear etc to get that ONE perfect run. And in my opinion the facebook warriors take away from that because why dedicate yourself, go thru all that hassle and then see somebody did 10 knots more somehow 😂😂. As you say there is a great platform so hopefully more and more people use it

@@MaciekRutkowski thanks for that! Wasn’t aware of those kind of posts 😎. Now I’m curious about names as well. I do have seen some incredible foils speed posts on socials which, after my own limited foil speed experience, I do doubt and maybe never hope to reach on a foil 😱 😂 but also those could be posted on the same platform which has a dedicated foil section as well. Anyway, keep up the good work 😎

Odd, I posted something and thats disappeared leaving only that clarification. Maybe you arent allowed to post links on youtube to stop spamming. Anyway, on the GPS speedsurfing site, on big kit, 85cm slalom board and 8.6m sail, Twan Verseput did 38.99 knots max 2 second and average of 5 10 seconds of 37.93. Gunnar Asmussen did 39.03 max 2 sec and 36.91 on similar gear. Looking at Gunnar's track he launched in Denmark and sailed off the coast of Germany! He posted a video on Facebook a few days ago saying he was now in Tarifa chasing 41 knots max.

I read this speed on FB and I couldn't really belive it, considering it was done on a 138L/8.4M, so I'm glad I was right! 😄However, I don't see what you are proving here, since all guys thats serious about GPS speed knows that if you dont post it on GPSspeedsurfing.com it doesn't count, and if you do, the track will show were you sailed, and it can be subject for a check if it's really fast. I'm sure there are people doing this trick, but so what? It doesn't matter for the people who knows better. In short I think this video kind of missed the point and maybe ridiculed the Speeders a little bit. Anyways, love your other contents tho!🤙

@@MaciekRutkowski Well, maybe some, but I don't think anyone who have tried to achive that speed on proper speedgear on a proper speedspot really believed it, but if you knocked off 2-3kn it would not be impossible. About guys posting 40+ on big gear, I have only seen Andy and Gunnar and we know they can be silly fast. Anyone claiming to do 40+ on big gear has to be PWA standard to have some credibility, and I don't see the point of taking the risk of being even mistaken for cheating for something that doesn't have much value to their reputation. The only ones who could benefit from it is people trying to get sponsors or want to please their (backyard) fin-sponsor. Anyway, the cat is out of the bag, and if this is a growing trend, it's good to put some light on it, even if this was a bit over the top😅

Was it on your podcast with Skye boy, when you said half a cm downhaul trim makes the difference between a world champion and an amateur skoda surfer? When I heard and believed this, I had no doubt that you (and the very experienced third agers) would make 43 on the big gear.

43 knots on medium gear....come on...there are a few guys even faster. You should speed up your car the next time! BTW: Do you see an other chance to promote your speeds? If this is the wrong way it would be nice if you tell us the right way.....Specially in the Corona time there are not many possibilities.
