You have taught me more in an hour about Anglicanism and English history than I learned in all the rest of my 59 years. Thanks again.

Wow, this series is so great! I've learned a lot of good stuff =) Though it is terribly sad that anyone had to be burned... I personally cannot understand schismatic reformation.

Unfortunately, the act of executing "Heretics" through burning at the stake is common in the history of Western Christianity. It was also practiced by some Protestant groups as well, the Church of England doing so into the 17th Century. As well, many "Heretics", such as John Wycliff, whom died natural deaths had their remains dug up and posthumously burned at the stake years after their deaths.

Wow,burning of corpses. That is extreme as I am catholic and see the anglican church as disgusting besides their choirs and hymns. But, my moral judgement is that burning heretics is terrible even if they are alive or dead. I do not like burning people. Even Cromwell was given a more dignified beheading.

Dr.Who1980 Productions : Have you looked at the agony of being hanged, drawn and quartered, such as was the fate of St. Edmond Campion, or crushed under stones, St. Margaret Clitherow. You should research the martyrdom of Catholics under the reign of Elizabeth I

Maple Anglican : Bear in mind that these people were not just regarded as heretics but also as traitors. Why? Because Henry VIII had passed an Act of Parliament declaring himself, and his descendants, not only supreme ruler of the country but also of the church. Under Elizabeth's reign, any person who refused to attend the new protestant service was guilty of an act of treason, and was fined as a punishment. For repeat offenders the fines were increased, resulting in poverty, then Imprisonment and death. This was the law of the land. Is it surprising, therefore, that so many poor people became Protestants against their will?

I never thought well of Mary. I think she was a terrible monarch. Brutal and vicious in the name of religion. Tore the country apart. A blessing she did not live long. Elizabeth l could be vicious also but loved her country and people. She brought the country into its golden age under great stress. She was I think a Great Queen
