If anyone is interested, the boxer in the thumbnail is named Bill Richmond. He was adopted by a British General as a child and left America for England after the Revolution. In England he became a carpenter, socialite and prize fighter. He had many legendary boxing matches all over the UK and became the first boxer to make the 'bop and weave' tactic popular. After Richmond retired he became a trainer and owned a prestigious boxing gym in Piccadilly Square. He was close friends with the British prime minister William Pitt and was chosen to be an usher at George IV's Coronation. Later Richmond trained another black American boxer named Tom Molineaux. Molineaux was a former slave who bought his freedom with money he won prize fighting. He then travelled to England and became a famous boxer and Richmond's protege. Anyone interested in boxing or black history should definitely look up these two men.

In Igbo land we say "Ndigbo enweghi eze" meaning "The Igbos Have No King" not even among ourselves, as we believe every man is equal, as in the ancient days igbo kingdoms weren't headed by a king but rather a council of elders , so why would they tolerate a strange and unknown white man lording over them and their families. Additional fact ; When they were all going to the sea to take their lives they all said this repeatedly " Mmiri wetara anyị, mmiri ahụ ga-akpọghachite anyị" meaning "The water brought us, the water will take us back"

Not technically a slave rebellion, The Seminole wars deserve major exposure. It's difficult planning a successful revolution on a plantation with no experience fighting and reluctant people that you need help from. The Seminole wars proved that battle hardened blacks can strategize and succeed. The jamaican maroons are another example.

This was a great video. It's so vital to understand that our ancestors freed themselves and that it wasnt a benevolent white ruler who gave them their freedom. I think the fact that people believe that the antebellum south was a peaceful place and was comfortable for slave owners, shows how little people understand the inevitability of class struggle. Slave owners were as paranoid of slave rebellion as bosses are today of workers organizing. Learn your Marx folks that's all I can say. Ps can you do a video on John Horse and the Seminole Wars and the Zumbi and the Maroons of South America. I feel like these two sets of inserrections don't get enough attention.
