THIS is the homesteading i want to see. I used to LOVE channels like Justin Rhodes back when he was humble. Now he is blowing hundreds of thousands of dollars on house remodels and equipment and barns. He has an entire film crew now. It just doesn't feel real anymore with him.
@denisewilson83679 ай бұрын
This is homesteading. I agree. What Rhodes does is not homesteading. He's always been in it for fame & fortune.
@phyzix_phyzix9 ай бұрын
I agree about Rhodes but this video is professionally recorded with expensive equipment and a film crew.
@TheWilsonsOnWilson9 ай бұрын
@phyzix_phyzix actually it’s just us ♥️ I film most days by myself, then sometimes on weekends when friends come over we all film together and Brendin brings over his drone. It was just me and Brendin muckin about in the barn for the talking bits. Then Brendin edits evenings and weekend when he’s not at his 9-5. He’s a wizard with the edits! I really appreciate hearing that it feels like it’s done by a professional crew! 🥰
@GiraffeKiss9 ай бұрын
@phyzix_phyzix the crew on this project only consists of Emily and Brendin, a single camera, a couple mics, and a vision! When the weekend rolls around myself, Brendin and Emily take turns filming. It's a huge compliment that it looks as if we have a full crew behind us to create the Wilsons on Wilson - thank you!

Sweet Emily. Just watched this last night, and then some of your other content. My goodness girl, you have more charisma in your right eyebrow than most will ever have. The camera just absolutely LOVES you. You're a natural. Given what was said in this video, it's clear you have a LOT of homestead experience to offer and a deep deep connection to mother earth and her plants. And incredible friendships. The cars lined up to move plants made me tear up a bit. All of that said, it would seem, based on your other content, some of which I watched last night, that you're still finding your footing. I would definitely watch more long form rather than the less than 10 minute videos (though I get it - I'm 57 and not on tiktok). My suggestion would be, do some visioning on what value you want to bring to your viewers. Is it that nature can heal trauma? Is it that hard work pays off (with before and after footage)? Is it just that the earth is beautiful and worth holding in high regard (with beautiful in the moment footage)? Any of those things are well worth watching, but have a "guiding light" in mind when you're figuring out content. I wish you all great success. Because so far, this story is amazing and you have the potential to have an absolutely HUGE following.
@TheWilsonsOnWilson9 ай бұрын
Wow! Thank you so much for the incredibly thoughtful feedback! It’s so funny that you bring up us “finding our footing” because that was the name of the game last year! With every episode we brainstormed and shifted. We tried new things from day to day to see what worked! Brendin would tweak film settings and audio, and buy new gadgets, trying to teach me how to utilize a bunch of gear I’d never worked with before! It was a massive learning curve! Plus I was terrified of being on camera! My fear of judgement and cruelty was a massive hurdle we had to climb many times in this process! And I’m sure we’ll continue to face that as I heal along the way. I think we’ve sort of found our grove now though. Creating something like this takes so much communication and understanding for one another and for the over all vision! It’s unlike anything I’ve ever done before! So thank you for looking at the whole picture and giving such sage advice. We think we’ve found our path, the documentary style, hard work, healing, friendship, taking care of the land for the greater good kinda feel..? But a good meal and some vision boarding never hurt anyone so who knows.. maybe we can solidify a clearer vision of who we are and what we share! So thanks again for the inspiration and for sharing your kind heart. We hope you have an amazing day! Emily and the Wilson’s team!

LOL I feel what you said about the shorts. hahaha. I found that I am allergic to 90% of the vegetation at our farm and we figured that out when I was in shorts and a tank in it and then by the next morning I was covered in poison oak whelps. Every inch of me, not exaggerating, was covered in those whelps. Now I either don't venture into the mess or I wear long sleeves and my overalls.

My gods how refreshing to find a channel with real people doing life while honestly imperfect. I heard you mention your circle, and my pagan heart fell in love. I've learned much from other channels, but there always seems to be a proselytizing moment on each video, and it gets old. "There was so much darkness chosen for me where i didn't have a choice. Now i do." I can't tell how this spoke to me. Thank you.

You in front of the camera would be my inner dialogue whenever I think about doing any kind of vlog anything, lol. I have 7 kids (#8 is on the way) and one day PRAY that we can have a few acres for a homestead and some more for just woods and children to explore. Right now we’re employing our suburban backyard to try to get our hands dirty and get some skills developed. It’s a long, slow process, but better moving ahead than staying stagnant. Can’t wait to catch up on all that you’ve done so far. This is the kind of channel I love…REAL! Stay real!

This is a great representation of what homesteading is really like. Your story is so heartfelt. And the beauty you have uncovered on this little plot of ground. Not only the landscapes but the friends that have been involved, your soul finding comfort, and your heart at ease. The only thing that distracts from it's picture perfect essence, is the foul words. I hope that in the future you can find other words in your vocabulary to replace it, and carry this beauty forward so everyone can feel it. Good luck to a bright future and seeing your dreams come to life.

Absolutely! That’s actually how this whole thing started. We didn’t plan on doing this as a doc or series. When we originally asked Brendin to give us a hand we just wanted to capture our progress so that in five or ten years we could look back and see where we began. We didn’t want to be so busy bustling in the day to day that we forgot see how amazing the journey is!Then he got us super excited about making into a documentary style piece, then it evolved into this crazy fun KZbin adventure! It’s all evolved so quickly, it’s been a whirl wind of amazing!

I know this video isn't as recent but this is the first I've found of yours! Pretty much an instant sub from me xP I just instantly clicked with your energy! You seem like an absolutely amazing soul to be around! Though your husband seems awesome too of course lol I'm so excited I feel like I'm gonna learn so much from your channel until I have the resources to go help people and learn things hands on! I'm in Oregon so it's also nice being able to see a homstead that'll be a bit more similar to ours climate wise than say a midwestern or southern homestead would be. Also despite what someone else commented I personally appreciate hearing the "foul language" from time to time, it feels more realistic! There's plenty of evangelical or "family-friendly" homestead channels to go around lol Not that there's anything wrong with it of course, I just grew up in the church and left for a reason is all I really appreciate you touching on your personal experiences growing up, I may not know your exact story, but some of what you said resonated with me. I love what you've been able to do for yourself and your healing journey so far. Like another commenter mentioned, your circle also really speaks to my pagan heart as well! I absolutely love the idea and want to incorporate it whenever I'm able to get land some day despite being and organization freak lol, I can find a way to organise a circle! Or maybe that's part of the point is to not be able to organise it, and just plant things where they feel they should go? Hmmm... Either way, thank you! I'm excited to catch up and see what comes next!

My first thought for the brambles was goats until I seen all that garbage! What is wrong with people that is crazy! Also if the tarps weren’t working just put another one on top……? 😂

I know right?! People are strange. And yes, goats and pigs are actually a huge part of our plans for moving forward! We’ve got quite a few steps ahead of that though

I believe that Americans are going to have to 'wake up" and learn to garden simply to eat.

Hi this is surinder I replied to your video about mint usage for rats and mice’s. So I am in the process of becoming soil consultant through soil food web (please check it out ). I have done all my theory requirements qualifications and now I am practicing what I learned and sharpening my skills ,so for this I need space to make biological compost and other stuff like teas and extract etc, also I will need a farmer who can let me use there land to put practice into work at no cost to farmer. It’s a win win situation for both sides I get the space to show how to grow organically and biologically without ANY chemicals and even better convert chemically used land into organic soil . The amount of land required is strictly based on what a farmer can let me use and prove my skills to them and myself and to my school . Once you read on what is soil food web school I am sure you will be thrilled to learn more . If it sounds good or to good to be true then you are right it is and if you are interested please let me know here or on my cell phone number at 6048084172. I would like to know where about you live so that it’s practical for me to travel on regular basis as it’s lot of hands on working. Thanks Surinder

This is the only one of your videos I’ve seen-it’s interesting but I have to say this and I don’t expect you to change anything for me-I’ll simply not watch because of the bad language. Who knows-possibly others feel the same. I do you wish you well!

This is beautiful! I love the video, what I didn’t love was your F word. How much more beautiful it would have been without that F word.

We appreciate your feedback. We do, at times, use colorful language. A decision was made to represent our story unfiltered. We understand some may find our choice of words undesirable. However, in the context of a documentary, portraying our honest experiences is what feels right. Thank you for watching.

I like where you have come from and what hard work you have done, however, the cussing ruins it for me! There is no need for that kind of language.

All I keep thinking is “please tell me you bought this house and land and not renting.” I couldn’t imagine putting in that much work for someone else.

You are not the only one thinking that! We’ve heard it a lot over the past year. But we have such a deep love and connection with the family that owns the property that we are doing this in faith. I know it sounds crazy. Very few people trust a handshake and a hug these days, and for good reason. But we believe in this so much that we’re willing to risk it!
