As a side note, "Geppetto" in the novel was the name of the old carpenter, not his surname - and not even his name, but his nickname: his actual name was Giuseppe. Also, Pinocchio in the novel was alive all along since the very start - he was a minor Genius Loci, a living pine log (hence the name, "pinocchio", meaning pine seed). Fun and enjoyable indie game to watch only criticisms towards the game is the characters are much bigger than the environment (it's really noticable during the Gepetto section since he is way bigger than the objects on the map) and tone down the thiccness of the characters a bit, Gepetto has too much cake and Mia's chest sways too much. I feel like the doctor should have had some ethical concerns about sending the daughter home with a father who was both grieving the lost of his son and wife, while simultaneously displaying at best utter indifference, if not contempt for his daughter. Then again I suppose the time period this is set it didn't exactly have the best protection for children. Also just throwing it out there. If I were the wife and he brought me back like this, I'd killed him on the god damn spot. In no world would I want to be brought back to life at the expense of my daughter, and anyone, even a lover, that did so would know a horrible fury like no other.

This might sound like a weird complaint but what was the point of the plot twist adoption thing? Was it to make the father less of a creep? I can understand the creator or anyone being uncomfortable with incest in a story, but given all the other fucked up stuff that happens in this game, I feel they should have left it in. It would have fit in context and really cemented the father being a horrible person. The twist makes no sense either. Why brainwash his adopted daughter to think she was someone else if he was going to wipe her mind later anyway? Why not just adopt a boy and transfer his sons soul? I think what would have made this game's story have more impact is that the father's resentment for his daughter was saved as a last minute reveal. I think if his daughter had grown up thinking that her father actually loved her and was secretly raising her as a vessel for his dead wife would have been a better way to go about this plot. Instead it kinda hits us over the head early on what some of the endings are going to be like. Also, i wasnt a fan of how 1 dimensionally evil the father was. Im sure the dev tried their best though. Always fun to watch Manly play these sort of games.

Actually more than Pinocchio I think about "Clock tower": that game had a female protagonist, a dead parent and an abusive one and twins.... props to the developer anyway. The name Pinocchio in the original story was given to the puppet due the tree the wood came from (Pino), which is a Common tree in Italy and not considered good for fire

I'm actually stuck between two ideas at the moment - one is 'yandere vTuber becomes obsessed with the MC after he comments on her Rule34 stuff with something heartwarming and ruins his life', and the other is 'guy dies and becomes a ghost, figures out that when he's outside of his body and hormones aren't affecting him he's pretty chill and kind of doesn't mind being dead until he discovers that there are things WAY WORSE than being dead he'd rather avoid even in ghost form'. That all sounds like a lot of pretty nonsense and bullshit from someone who is just saying whatever in the comments of a KZbin video, I understand, haha, but hopefully in a few months I can point back at this for fun!

Id summarize this game as "skillful but messy". In the sense that there was clearly time and effort put in and it goes beyond simply being functional and can be quite scary, but at the same time you can sort of see the stitches (or strings I suppose). The twists, character behavior, the hiding mechanic and untutorialized sprint, puzzles that are evidently more boring or bothersome than challening. It all speaks to a game design that seems to be covering over cracks revealed after things were already implemented. As for the endings, I'd say 4 is best just because it leaves matters open-ended rather than the evil characters basically getting what they want anyway (5 a close second cause at least you get your soul still). 4 feels like the most natural lead into a new game that, despite the cracks in this one, I feel could effectively tie itself to this one without feeling limited by it.

​@@reyalfa18 I mean you could argue that, but you could also argue the fact that this is something that is a common theme through a lot of cultures and time periods. In various cultures throughout different time periods the son has been seen as the important one, either because women weren't allowed to do anything anyways, or because a son was the only one that could carry on the family name since the female would take on the husbands name (and in some cultures, their family) and if one had only daughters this was seen as the end of your family line. This is why when China had a law about how many children you could legally have without paying an extra fee, a lot of baby girls were either killed or left to die on the roadside or given to orphanages with the family hoping they could have a son and carry on the family bloodline and surname. Within the western world, girls were seen as expensive as the family had to pay for the dowry if they wanted their daughter to have a good match, and would often have to pay for the entire wedding. This specific tradition is often seen carried on even in this day and age when the brides father traditionally pays for everything, although more recently the groom and grooms family have started stepping in and helping pay also. Until women started working/voting/etc in the eyes of the world they were often seen as little more than young housewives good for nothing more than doing first a father then a husbands bidding and keeping a happy home. The story isn't the greatest I will admit, but it has some merits and you can't just say a father scorning their daughter when there wife and only son just died is poor writing. There's a reason this and other tropes are often used tropes after all.
