Allowing a horse to stand in your space uninvited is not in the nature of the horse, and it's amazing the myriad of symptoms it can cause. Some horses can be spooky, or lazy and beligerent.
Like with people , there is a time to be up close and personal, but it's not appropriate all of the time, and there needs to be a level of trust, and respect, before it happens.
