Hey Amber, just wanted to let you know, that volume of Jojos Bizarre Adventure you bought for yourself is actually the first volume of the fourth part! There are currently 9 parts in total and you can kind of think of them as seasons of a show if that makes sense, so if you start off on part 4 you're gonna be quite confused! The first part of the story is called Phantom Blood and it's where people should start off at in my opinion, since it's the beginning after all.

Amber! I know this is a long shot, but there is a manga that I think you'd LOVE called "Golden Kamuy." I'm surprised its flown under the radar so much in the booktube/mangatube community, since it is one of the only stories (other than One Piece) that is able to seamlessly blend lighthearted comedy with genuinely heartwrenching character storylines. It's probably my 2nd favorite manga of all time; I can promise you it's worth giving a shot! This is the basic premise: "Golden Kamuy" follows Saichi Sugimoto, a veteran of the early twentieth-century Russo-Japanese War, and his quest to find a huge fortune of gold of the Ainu people, helped by a young Ainu girl named Asirpa. Essentially it's a historical fiction treasure hunt adventure story. Again, the cast of characters is by far the best part of the manga for me. And the way is utilizes humor for much-needed levity is perfect.

I am so glad that you are trying Yotsuba! Its such a cheerful and wholesome story. Yotsuba is invincible. As long as you are trying a volume, I recommend Barakamon too. I've only seen the anime but its such an uplifting and feel good story Berserk is a hard to recommend series, it comes with plenty of trigger warnings. It has everything you have in Game of Thrones, dialed upto 11 and to top that, it has actual devils and monsters who make sucky humans look tame. It can go unnecessarily hard at times. Saying all that, I can say that its a top notch story and has earned its praise well, but only if you can stomach it And damn, that is a great haul. FMA, Berserk, Vinland Saga, Hunter x Hunter.... I am looking forward to videos about them all

I love that people from both manga only and book only demographics are incorporating more mangas and books. I have recently finished A man called Ove and loved it. People only talk about how brutal Berserk is and understandably so but they fail to mention that it also has one of the best romance. I am putting forth some of my recommendations for romance manga series here 1) Kim ni Todoke : It’s a really heartwarming story about a misunderstood girl who slowly beings to gain confidence in herself and pursue friendship and romance. 2) lovely complex : A boy and a girl are constantly teased as being a part of a comedic duo due to their height difference( the girl being much taller) , they are irritated by each others antics but as they find themselves in similar positions they begin to see each other in a different light. 3) Skip Beat : a girl dumped by her pop star boyfriend enters into the entertainment industry in hopes of getting revenge but ends up discovering a new love for acting, finds friends and possibly new love? 4) NANA : I just say that during publication NANA was rivaling OnePiece.

Hi, Amber!! I love these update kind of videos! What great choices!! I too like stories of different genres, so I enjoy seeing other people do the same. Personally, for slice of life and romance, manga is my favourite medium. Most of the manga I've read fall in one of the two or both genres. "Yotsuba" is really good! I've also enjoyed "Rent a Girlfriend", even though I have seen the premise done better. On this note I would like to recommend "My Senpai is Annoying" (Senpai ga uzai Kouhai no Hanashi): it's about a short young woman trying to make it as an office worker while developing feelings for her co-worker. In the same vain is also "Toradora" but it's more of a YA since the characters are high schoolers. This one was originally a light novel which was adapted to manga and then anime too; so you have many media to choose from 🙂 I think I have already mentioned "Life is hard for Otaku". It definitely deserves a read!! Also, more to the romance side, I would suggest "Happy Marriage" (Hapi Mari) by Maki Enjouji. I've read most of her works and this is the best one. I love that you have "Sakamoto Days" here!! I simply love premises like this ❤ About the demographic categories: You can largely treat Shounen and Shoujo as YA, with Shounen being more focused on action and Shoujo more on romance. Seinen and Josei are for more mature audiences because of their themes; there are certain mindsets that you just can't relate the same as a child or an adolescent. PS: My schedule is really hectic lately and I am struggling to be on time for my favourite KZbinrs 😭 Still love your videos and want to exchange options, though! Keeping my comments shorter will be my way to do this from now on 😅

Well... you now have 4 of my favorite stories ever in your hands (One Piece, Berserk, Hunter Hunter and Full Metal, in no particular order). IMO they are all life changing experiences, for very different reasons, but they all make you fell strong felling. I'm cautious when recommending Berserk, because the trigger list is pretty heavy, but if you are able to pass all that, you will be met with one of the most beautiful tragedies and best character work ever. And also the illustration at times is more incredible then most works of art. As for Hunter Hunter, it get a little darker then One Piece, but never as dark as Berserk. But the point that can turn people off is that the story is very unconventional in some aspects, but IMO it's what makes this story so unique and so real. Also, it have my favorite magic system in fiction, so i hope you enjoy it. For the other two, it's been a joy to watch your journey with them so GO READ!! ♥

I just read the first volume of Ass Class (as the kids apparently call it) and I thought it was DELIGHTFUL. The combination of the near-slapstick antics of the attempted assassinations and the teacher being a murderous monster who is apparently also really devoted to being a good teacher to this class of outcasts and rejects was incredibly charming, and I can see how it could get plenty of depth and heart over the series. My bud told me the ending is good too, so I'm pumped! I also really enjoyed the first volumes of HunterxHunter I read. It reminded me of nothing so much as the Impulse comic series, for any DC comics readers out there, and I'm excited to read more even though the length is intimidating! I don't know how new you are to manga, but here's some recommendations if you're interested! (also, some terms that it was helpful for me to learn when new to manga: shounen=teen boy targeted. [When I see a series is shounen though there's plenty of gold I also know to be ready for plenty of it to have fanservice stuff like big-boobie lady assassins etc to make me roll my eyes lol.] Seinen=adult male targeted. Shojo=teen girl targeted. Josei=adult woman audience. [all these demographic divisions can be a bit loosey-goosey though, so they're more of a guideline!] Ecchi=porny/fanservicey. Isekai=stories where someone gets transported to or reborn in another world) If you like comedy mixed with action and a lot of heart, I'm up to date on SpyxFamily and in my opinion it is 100% worth the hype. Only 8-9 volumes out atm so a good time to pick it up if you haven't already! For series with absolutely STUNNING art and a lot of depths under a warm and bright surface, Witch Hat Atelier and Magus of the Library are both A++. Fruits Basket is THE classic romcom/fantasy type series aimed at young girls, and I think it's absolutely worth checking out at least the first omnibus to see if it's your jam. Another classic that is worth checking out is Chobits by CLAMP--they're one of the foundational sort of manga-creating teams as far as I can tell, and this short 8-volume was my introduction to manga and I really liked it as that. Have fun with your new manga journey! And if you ever want to try and Isekai series, I got u 😂

Ok amber, I would like to tell you about the manga demographics that could help you to read the manga There is shonen. Which means targeted for teenage boy ( mostly the main characters were teenage boy) even though it was mostly likely enjoyed by the readers from all over age categories. Which had cheerful and optimistic tone yet it had subtle dark theme story ( I mean, you already read FMA and One Piece) Then there is Seinen. The manga that targeted adult readers. It is more graphic, contain more violence or more dark theme. So knowing you have berserk on your list. I suggest you to read the rating on the back of the book. Seriously, because it contains heavy theme such as gore, violence against women and children, and s**ual assault that very uncomfortable for a lot of people. But, if you can stand the Game of Thrones maybe you can read berserk. The story with such beautifulness in the brutal world of berserk. I boldly say, that berserk is one of the best fantasy story ever written and for me it was up there with Peter Jackson Lord of the Ring trilogy So happy reading Amber

Sakamoto Days is a great new gen manga, it’s only gotten better as the series continued & I imagine it will blow up further when it gets an anime adaptation. Tokyo Ghoul is a masterpiece not worth watching, and Sui Ishida is a very unique artist. The fights are very cluttered and hard to read, but everything else is top-notch in my opinion. Hunter x Hunter is my fav manga of all time, and I doubt it’ll ever get surpassed. Berserk is extremely dark and not for everyone, despite it being something I love it’s not something I ever recommend because of what it contains. Don’t feel bad if it doesn’t resonate with you or is too much- Daniel Greene didn’t like it and only now loves it after like 3 years.

Super excited for more One Piece obviously and Vinland Saga, but please, I beg of you, don’t read Rent-a-Girlfriend it’s one of the worst series I’ve ever seen in my life. You are going to regret it.

Classroom assassin is a highly recommended book. It has a weird story plot where an "octupuslist" human that can destory the world, wants to become a teacher while all the students want to kill this teacher to get an incredible handsome rewards. Yet, the story shows how they developed a wonderful relationship etc. It is definitely worth watching all the way to the end. And when you reach the end, you will just feel so satisfied cause they give a very good closure and explanation. If you like alice in wonderland, like survival by using wits to clear games, then you can consider "As the god's will", "darwin game" or even kaiji. For less death version,. you can consider lier game, gamble fish. hunter x hunter just be prepared to be a story that wont end. mainly due to the speed of progress. However, it is still a very good book to read, it holds quite well through the test of time. If you like it and if I would to choose a similar recommendation that heavily focus on growing the protagonist from start and developed friendship, you can consider to read naruto, zatchbell, and even hikaru no go(it is a manga about go chess, and yes you hear me right. There is a reason why this book can become such a hit when the content is so unpopular).
