A tariff is a tax paid by the company importing a product from specific countries. The country that produces the product does not pay the tax…

I wish Nintendo had just bought out Rare entirely in the 90's. Imagine if Rare continued pumping out quality games from the GCN to the Wii/U and the Switch. I know Rare in the og xbox era wasn't all that good, but that was because a lot of the senior staff left after the buyout. Being Nintendo fans I can't imagine they were too keen on being stuck on Xbox. So maybe the games would have been better.

to be honest i don't thing the switch would be covered by a tariff as its never been manufactured in the US but what they can do is produce some aspect of it in the US or even have it packaged in the US then at that point they can can claim assembled in the US dodging the tariffs.

It is and isn’t too early to worry. On the one hand, tariffs make imports cost a LOT more, unless the companies importing the products and resources choose to absorb the cost. So yeah, price hikes. But Trump is also talking about eliminating income tax and filling government coffers with tariff revenue instead. So the question is, are you paying so much income tax that keeping it would put you ahead of the 10-25% price hikes? My sense is the little guy will be in a coin toss situation and high earners will fare better. I just don’t think you can generate the same revenue by only taxing imports from Canada, Mexico, and China. So it’s possible we see countries like Japan, Taiwan, and others added to the axis. That would absolutely raise the price of a Switch 2 because it would limit Nintendo’s above to produce the consoles in a non-tariffed country of origin.
