Katie being polite to ChatGPT and also referring to them as 'Chat' was just so joyful.
@EmilySmirleGURPS Жыл бұрын
When I say thank-you, ChatGPT says "You're Welcome" so it makes me feel a little like it appreciates my effort... even though it's just as scripted as the lady at the cash register saying "Have a nice day" and me answering "You too!" But I still have a nice interaction, which feels good for my human meat brain, so hey!

This soap is so cute! I think adding a little bit of white glitter on the top to look like frost would have suited it so well. Silly chat gpt doesn’t understand the power of glitter ✨

In defense of ChatGPT: they have no eyes. This soap was cursed with no glitter from the beginning... XD

I was honestly waiting for it to pull up or reference some of Katie's designs when she typed in "frosted" soap.
@brandibastian4193 Жыл бұрын
Not going to lie. That's the one I would have chose from those because I feel like it's really cute to have the loaves look like like a long pie and then each of the bars look like an itty bitty slice from like a pie that was like made in a sheet pan or something. So it's more squared

As a PNW native and hiker of the forests and explorer of waterfalls, I agree that it's very reminiscent of our woods and heartily approve. It's gorgeous! For pine needles on soap tops I usually go with dried rosemary, it does the job pretty well. Actual juniper berries and peppercorns give a great effect too!

Watching the design process/ rough sketching of your soaps is SO entertaining
@lindsayf9225 Жыл бұрын
It's so specific because it takes its information from actual soap makers who have posted these things. Which is the moral issue a lot of people have with AI, it takes from artists without support or credit.
@marli8907 Жыл бұрын
I mean, technically, anyone could do that. It would just take much more time and effort. But all of these are openly available to use as resources it’s pulling from.
@syrefayne8922 Жыл бұрын
It was spitting out all that info and I was like "hmm. It watched Katie's videos."
@Jay_Kay666 Жыл бұрын
I just took information from actual soap maker so real question is what makes chatgpt different from me? Neither of us stores the data but learns from it. It can't be using data for money because if I were a soap maker no one would judge me for learning techniques from books or internet.
@lindsayf9225 Жыл бұрын
@marli8907 yeah but for example Katie's earnings from KZbin directly relate to views, so if her video is viewed once and then shared by someone else without credit, then the hours of work she put into it don't help her support her family. I don't think AI shouldn't be used, I just think there should be some method to make sure the true labor being put into its algorithms is being accounted for and compensated.
@jenniferhookway2086 Жыл бұрын
Yep that's it exactly. Chat GPT does all this without providing any kind of monetary benefit to the artists and content creators it took the information from. Our views on this video provide monetary benefit! If I share this video with someone else, they also provide a view (and money) to Katie...but when Chat GPT shares the information again, there's no benefit again. Eventually artists will get "starved out" as folks stop visiting original artists and go exclusively to AI...but then AI will have nothing new to learn from. It's a huge ongoing problem.
@IonIsFalling7217 Жыл бұрын
I'm so glad you choose the Elderberry and Evergreen! That design was STUNNING. And as a person from the Pacific Northwest, yes, it definitely gives walk in the woods vibes, with the evergreen and blackberries everywhere!

This is a really pretty soap. I feel like that double handed pouring technique makes really deep and even swirls. It seems better than popsicle stick swirls for certain applications.
@bobcatred Жыл бұрын
I think you could replace the pine needles with a green glitter, tbh. Getting something piped small enough to read as needles I think is near impossible, but glitter could work really well. The swirl looks amazing.

@katehucks774 Жыл бұрын
I was thinking a dark green drizzle on top would create a similar effect, since it would settle into the lines of the soap frosting. It’d be interesting to see a comparison of the commenter-suggested techniques to see what gives the most pine-needley effect!
@debbyflowers1488 Жыл бұрын
Yep, unfortunately the piped ones look like little green mouse turds to me! Why not just use the real thing?

It’s interesting that ChatGPT has information from the internet, including Katy’s content. In a way, Katy is talking to herself on how to design her soap, and every other soap maker online. PS: I think you just unlocked my favorite color duo for this Autumn and Winter.

I always imagine coniferous scents to evoke a more wintery theme what with wreaths and christmas trees and such, but PNW fall makes a lot of sense! I really like the lattice pie crust soap frosting, so definitely keep that design aspect in your "someday" soaps. Maybe a cherry or blueberry pie, the contrast of tan crust with dark red or blue/purple pie filling would be very striking.

I love it! I was so excited when you chose the elderberry suggestion ❤ My only thought on the design is that, I wonder if, instead of including the lighter green shade in the initial pour; using a dark green to give a ribbon effect in the frosting might add that pine needle look without creating something too busy. I think including individual pine needles and keeping the lighter purple in addition to the other changes would be great!
