(1) Does either Thiessen's book or John’s state an opinion re whether Paul expected the general resurrection/Jesus’s 2nd coming to occur within his lifetime? It seems to me that at least early Paul did. (2) The trinity discussion at the end seemed to me to be a bunch of hand waving sleight of hand, in order to be able to say something that sounds profound like relationship being at the core of the deity. When the historical man Jesus prayed, who was he talking to? Who did HE *think* he was talking to? As a xian I used to be fond of saying things like the doctrine of the trinity weren't irrational or sub-rational, they were supra-rational. Then I could walk away or dismiss the mental convo with myself, feeling like I'd said (or thought) something really deep. Keep up the good work, I wish all Christians were like you guys
