The $60,000 and $80,000 jobs some previously held are not coming back. They might find work at middle age or higher, but are likely to take a severe pay cut. Possibly as much as 50%. You don't have to be unemployed for the system to start to crack. Imagine 40% being paid 30% less than they previously made? The result is the same. Change of spending habits, change of outlook and fear. Not a good mix considering how high on the horse using credit many Americans have been living.

@EWOKCAD I need to do a video of the winter coat I bought yesterday at the thrift store. It's a GI issue coat made in '54. It has a wool liner in it. The coat must weigh around 5 lbs, I'm not exaggerating about that.

The problem isn't really unemployment... it's the boredom that kills. Feeling worthless, useless, unneeded... for as long as you can keep yourself busy, being unemployed isn't so bad. Not having to answer to a boss can be great... being broke not so much. Even leaving the house most times cost money, gas in the tank what have you.

I enjoy your videos. Good commentary. One suggestion for anyone unemployed for an extended time would be to move to any area that has low unemployment. The BLS website lists the unemployment rate per metropolitan area. For example Lincoln Nebraska is only 3.6.

@EWOKCAD It does get cold. I'm north of Saratoga and it gets to 22 degrees below zero in the winter sometimes. In Saranac Lake in the Adirondacks, it gets even colder than that.

Yeah, it seems like unless a person highly connected or is willing to work for a government agency or for a government contractor, or do some job in education, healthcare, food service or the retail sector, or become some sort of salesperson, it's difficult finding a job as the few jobs outside of these sectors usually involve having some sort of skill or training that few people in the population have.
