My goodness! Driving from Limuru to Westlands at night is a real nightmare. You struggle to see. I hope they fix the lighting and the markings on the road will do with reflectors.

Waiyaki Way stands out as the most untidy & neglected road in the country. You can see this from the unkept grass/bush/bare soil in the median as well as the dirty jersey barrier. Unfortunately, this is the highway that over 80% of the visitors use as they head to the Mara and it ought to have been of the highest quality to market this country.

This one is still better than the rest. The way to really make sure we improve is to first have minimum good standards for ourselves (that is where our poor oor average people live). That will automatically elevate standards for areas like these. No need to only develop for visitors and not locals. Reminds me of the grass that was hastily planted for Obama's visit. We can improve. I lived in Nairobi when all estate roads were decent. One thing I liked during Uhuru's time was the fact that he upgraded some roads in the slums and provided some other services. If we make the slums better, and keep them affordable, other builders will be forced, by their customers, to upgrade.

@@ubaachieng4668 why are estate roads and local area roads not in good state? who should ensure side walks, cleanliness and good roads in local areas are done? Ethiopia is doing wonders in Addis. Is it really a rocket science for our leaders to do the building of the ground?

I think Outer Ring road takes first spot. Just take a drive on it and you will see what I mean. Waiyaki Way is being tidied up and will be completed soon.

They should device a process of acquiring a lot of land adjacent to the highway, on both sides, because that is where they can plant trees for beautification, and or build parallel highway entry and exit roads so that drivers do not have to enter the highway at slow speeds, or exit the highway by first dangerously slowing down on the highway.
@ubaachieng466813 сағат бұрын
People should not be allowed to build close to the highway where vehicles have to start and stop in the highway.

Acquire or repossess land? All government highways have enough land for expansion. It is just that we have normalized land grabbing.

Thanks for this...KENHA needs to do something about painting those bumps on that stretch...
@TheTororist11 сағат бұрын
@@joekingori7 bumps should not exist on such a highway. Only in Kenya. They should build the footbridges already. Kids shouldn't be crossing 8 lane highways in rush hour
@joekingori711 сағат бұрын
@TheTororist indeed...but since we know this govt is reactive rather than proactive...the least they can do is atleast create visibility for road users and pedestrians. Road safety is the least of their worries. Considering the footbridges are included in the budget, you wonder why they take so long to be built. Thika Road they had to get funding from the Belgium govt (or one of the Scandanavian countries) to finish the last ones nearly 10 years after it was finished.

One thing that we don't know as a country is landscaping. Contractors in both the road and housing sectors don't care about landscaping. Another thing we don't care about is maintenance. Once we build something that's it. Maintenance is done after years. At least the housing sector is waking up but there is still a lot to do in the roads sector.

Bado nangoja what happened to the road connecting CBD to Ngong road and Upper Hill. What happened? Are they continuing to beautify the lower road along the expressway to look close to what their simulation looked like? I see some expressway pillar plants survived. Do they know why? They should have an adopt a pillar program for those that didn't survive and let it run for a year and then hire the group with the most successful results to work on the rest of the pillars.

It's insane that the highway has bumps erected on it and they're not even marked. It takes the slowing down of vehicles infront to know that there are bumps ahead. Some if not mostof them don't even have rumble strips erected behind to alert the driver and if they do, the strips are not erected at an appropriate distance. If you were to be the only motorist on the road you'd easily crash into those bumps because they're not easily visible.

Moi actually did roads despite having most of them in Rift Valley. For schools, he built so many schools - Moi High Schools exist in every corner of this nation.
