The Isles of Scilly are one of UK’s best kept secrets and one that is unlike anywhere else in the UK!
The weather in unbelievably warm here (thank to the warm winds of the Gulf Stream), the water is crystal clear (like Caribbean crystal clear) and the people here are absolutely amazing! Here’s a video from our time there!

The funny 😁 thing about the Isles of Scilly is that it’s basically like the English equivalent of the Maldives despite the fact that is situated in the UK 🇬🇧 because of its clear water and warm weather and tropical 🌴 plants 🌱 it almost like the Bahamas 🇧🇸 as well another cool thing is that it goes to show that the UK 🇬🇧 isn’t just a plain old fashioned place and it’s actually pretty beautiful

Cornwall: Porthcurno is a MUST, and Kynance Cove too, especially for the stunning beaches with the aqua coloured sea. Porthcurno has the outdoor Minack Theatre, which is phenomenal! St Ives, the Eden Project and Land’s End are also great places. You’ll know that even the warmest parts of the UK can still be pretty temperate in the Summer so always pack a light sweater or two, and a small jacket, just in case. Nevertheless the best time to go is between May and September, and July and August especially.😉

One problem with the title, the Isles of Scilly are only subtropical, not tropical. To be tropical, all months have to have a mean temperature of 18C (64F) or higher. The coldest month on the Isles of Scilly has a monthly mean temperature of about 9C (48F), so significantly too cool to be tropical. Similar to San Francisco or New Plymouth. Nothing like Hawaii or the Bahamas, which are truly tropical.

We took the train from London to Exeter and then we flew from Exeter to St Mary's island. We stayed in a cottage on Tresco though you could also stay on St Mary's - St Mary's is the bigger one. There's loads more information on our blog - www.HandLuggageOnly.co.uk

Thanks Jonathan! This is an old Sony A5000 though I hear the A6000 is quite good. Currently, our favourite is the Lumix GX80 - the video stabilisation on it is really good so it's so much smoother.

That's really lovely to hear! :-) At this point when we filmed this, we didn't have the Lumix camera for videos (we had the GX7 and used it for photos instead) - we got the Lumix one late last year. Yeah, I know what you mean. I think it totally depends on your lifestyle really. It's such a lovely place but if for example you wanna go clubbing and stuff, it might not be the best for you as it's way more chilled than city-life. If however, you want great weather, lovely people and just general natural beauty - it'll be perfect for you.
