Sterling is the only homozygous silver stallion in the AQHA. 1 in 3,000,000+ horses, but that is not what he has to offer most. The mind of this horse is unbeatable. If you are a horse owner and want your forever horse go to the link above to start today!

you are an awesome cowboy. i bet your family is very proud of you. as a young single women in the early 80s i had to make a living somehow so i got a job as a ranch hand and also ended up doing the same thing as you did. before i knew it i was greenbreaking and training horses all over my part of the country. fast forward and boy i wish i would have been more careful. but i wouldn't change that life for nothing . my son went on to become a good trainer and has a beautiful ranch in TX They just don't make cowboys like us anymore .. thanks for your videos. .

Who says that cowboys aren't that bright? This trainer is one of the most well-spoken individuals I've ever listened to, and he sure seems to know his business, and the owner has enough sense to not step on his presentation which has this podcast being a tribute to the integrity and the intelligence of today's cowboys. For what it's worth from a city slicker who now understands that I knew absolutely nothing about horses, good job men.

The silver gene reduces the intensity of black pigment. If you noticed, his legs are lighter in color as well, but he is a bay horse. The red pigment is unaffected, and will express normally. Chestnut/sorrel (red) horses can also carry the silver gene, but it won't be noticed because they have no black. (Jan Griffiths).

Good God most people's comments on your video are REALLY terribly sad to me! I enjoyed every minute of your video. When I was 18 I bought my 2nd horse to own, care for, and train myself. He was a 22 month old Registered Quarter horse named, Roma Traveler, born June 10, 1974 and he was 14.2 hands tall (perfect for me, I'm 5'3) a sorrel stud with a perfect blazed face, two perfectly matched hind stockings, with a flaxen mane and tail, and damn he was beautiful. Roma lived to be 30 years old. He was absolutely gorgeous just like your stud is, and with almost the same exact disposition! These people criticizing you both for everything in the world need to get a freaking life! He's a really nice stud and you did a great job at showing his abilities and his good and relaxed disposition to me! You're a good trainer, my trainer for my cutting horses was Matlock Rose. I want one of Silver's foals. Seriously. I will be in contact with y'all. I live in East Texas.. Lindale. P.S. The link you provided in the description box isn't working.

THANK YOU FOR THIS !!!! I can't stress enough, how much it bothers me the number of horses bred with the same bloodlines. Just to say you have that bloodline. Even before this video, I told myself if I ever could afford a horse, I would step outside those bloodlines. There needs to be more to choose from, like this special guy right here. I wouldn't even hesitate after watching this and learning all about this stud, to breed a special mare to him or buy a foal by him. And continue the bloodline, because this stud is incredible & deserves a legacy.

Love the trainer being involved - I am 100% behind his opinion on healthy temperament (and physique) and quiet mind being the most important consideration with a horse (or dog). The dangers involved in getting an unbalanced horse (or dog) are terrifyingly obvs. A healthy body is important if you want a sound horse apart from no pain for them and stress (because of their pain) fewer huge $$$$ veterinarian costs for you. The 'pretty' and 'flashy' are IMO least important. However, a stud owner must guarantee certain things inc a healthy foal (as judged by a vet) for full payment.

He looks amazing, great conformation, little shorter than I am used to for a quarter horse but amazing. We grew them long and lanky.... But like you said they were the 5 to 6 hundred dollar horses. Prolly a little Thoroughbred in there, sometime we had to chase cows a long way. If I was breeding a horse for where i am now I would defiantly be interested. I love his demeaner.... Very calm, like what's next boss.... Or I am board haha. Which can lead to problems if you don't put that mind to work. Over all I will give him a 9.95. Only cause I haven't put hands on him. A lot of people prefer the older breeds, bloodlines like the Poco blood lines for example. They are good horses but when you train with the older bloodlines then train with the newer bloodlines like High Brow Cat n Pepto bloodlines for example it’s a whole different world. The newer bloodlines are so much easier to train. They tend to learn n retain the training so much faster. The newer breeds are in a class all of their own.

I would be interested if I had either a foundation QH mare, or a TB to breed to him. I only have a mini mare (have 3 minis total--1 gelding , a mare and her yearling filly). My mare did produce a silver black colt 5 years ago. He's a gelding now, and owned by a friend's daughter and her kids. They have a blast driving him. (Jan Griffiths).

Maybe the meaning of foundation stock has changed. I believe that the foundation sires of the Quarter Horse, were alive in the late 1940's and into the 1950's. So to somehow have foundation QH mare she would be around 70 years old. LOL

@@patzeuner8385 There are people who breed foundation AQHA horses. They are often double registered as FQHA (Foundation Quarter Horse Association). @@Growmap like I said, the meaning of foundation stock has changed. It really isn't foundation as it was intended years ago. I'm sure the cross bred horses that are currently in the marketplace will eventually become some sort of purebred something.

@Sqrley L. He's shorter than the average AQHA horse, but if he is over 14'2" as they say he is, then he is considered a horse. But he'd be perfect for breeding quarter ponies out of smaller mares. And AQHA horses are shorter now than they were decades ago due to the popularity of certain cutting horse bloodlines.
