I am proud to say that in my 30 yrs in the bar business one of my best times was bartending at the Holiday Inn when J.D., Bobby, Tony and his brother Larry were playing there. I worked with them there for a year before getting sand in my shoes. I never got tired of hearing them play music and I became friends with all of them. R.I.P. Bobby Sloane and Larry Rice

I am glad you made this post. I can only imagine how you must have liked that job. I have been told about how crowded it got. It was a small bar room correct ? Travis in Ky

Yes Travis It was a typical Holiday Inn lounge for the time, got to remember this was early 70's maybe seated 100 but there were probably a lot of people standing as well I know one thing for sure---I had a hell of a good time and made a ton of money working there. I have not talked to J.D. for a while now. I guess it is about time to give him a call as he is now 77 and I am 70 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Michael Mantia Thank you for the reply. I was a small little guy . My Uncle was a meat cutter for Kroger's in Louisville. He lived in Jeffersonville IN. I can remember him driving down to the shows at the Red Slipper . He would make it to our place London Ky on Saturday. This is good memories . I wish I could have seen them play there. It is nice to talk to someone who was there during these legendary occurrences . It is amazing you could have known my Uncle. Travis
