Bold pipe organ and trumpet music, very very modern and enthralling! A very emotional and triumphant symphony! Khatchaturian at its best, a brilliant work and so ingenious! I love the Armenian ethnic tunes, and this triumphant organ!

dobare misazamat vatan Aram Khachaturian is one of the most talented former Soviet composers of the 20th century. He brought close the oriental ethnic tunes of Armenia and Georgia and combined them with Russian classic music. That makes his music so unique and oustanding. Thank you for your comment.

Terrific version of this symphony! I love how at around the 10:30 mark the melodiousness starts to degrade. Entropy sets in--instability as if the orchestra was playing with nitro glycerin. Wonderful!

KIRILL KONDRASCHIN Excellent performance of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Moscow and Kirill Kondrashin, this brilliant conductor fallen out of favor with senior members of the Stalinist government.

Astonishingly difficult piece to play, this is possibly second only to the BBC Philharmonic at Leeds recording. And that's big praise :)

wow brilliant recording, the organist played rather well, and damn the power of those 15 trumpets, overkill? NAH,

Brilliant indeed ! specially the extraordinary orgue partition; i hear it for the first time , i am sure that there are many other hidden or unknown compositions of Khatchaturian because of the isolation of the USSR during the cold war of the west , i hope that the independance of Armenia will reveal better all the Armenian talents that are not shown for the world . Thank you very much dear sister Armenuhi .

How many of you know that Kachaturian wrote many film scores? His music was tailor made for film...

This work is so good and pleasing to the ears you might even experience multiple orgasms just by listening to it. Very few composers in history have managed to succeed at that in the way that Aram Khachaturian did with his Third Symphony.

No disrespect to Russians, but Khachaturian is of Armenian origin and his works reflect the great culture and spirit of the Armenians.
