@Astriam I attended one smenirar with Tissier in Chile some years ago and he is very kind. He took many of us to practice and with each one of us he was very gentle. This means that he knows when to do a technique faster or more powerful, and also when to do it gently and softer. I really admire him.

guys i have been doing martial arts since i was 6 yrs now i am 45 yrs .judo,wado riu jiu jitsu,wing chun,and boxing all of them on professional standards been in the special forces for 20 years and worked security in nasty night clubs for 22 years,i only had 3 times a punch or a kick hitting my body.i started aikido 5 years ago on a daily basis and i love it and trust me i will prefer to have as my opponent a 260 lbs muscular nasty guy than an aikidoga 120lbs .

@jaikaransingh The thing is that an aikidoka that weighs 260 lbs instead of 120lbs will still throw you the same way with the same amount of force. The forces you see at work in Aikido aren't the force of one person pushing or throwing another. They're the result of simple turns and well-applied leverage. It's all momentum and gravity at work. That momentum is coming from the attacker, not the aikidoka and so the weight of the aikidoka doesn't matter.

@RMabee88 The "fancy rolling" is the best way to take the energy you receive being thrown, to get up again and to keep yourself from falling hard or "sliding". But it can also be an offensive way to shorten distances not giving an exact clear way of positioning
@lomas
@lomas 14 жыл бұрын
@RMabee88 You're totally Right, I train Tae-Kwon-Do and we do all these rolls to escape and avoid damage. It's not the defender who throws you, the attacker has to react and know how to escape this way not to finish hurt, injuried or broken.

some people here have no clue what this martial art is able to do! I practice hard style karate for 15 years. Had almost everything broken, and yet my worst injuries came from aikido, which I have spent the last 18 trying to understand. Its true that for some who have only done aikido need to go out and try another art to feel what its like to get struck. But people who come here to bash something they've never done is true ignorance in every sense. Im a police officer it works nicely!

I think aikido is perfect when an attacker wants to assault you. The more blindly, the better. It's not a combat style, and it doesn't want to be such, but it's great if someone wants to grab, bear-hug, choke or push you. On the other hand, it's unapplicable in combat, unless your opponent really wants to hurt you bad and loses his self-control.

I've done aikido for awhile now. Its great fun, keeps you fit, and it its really helpful. I've used it on the streets once and it worked well, but like Pimp90z said, you do need some expierence before you can use it in a fight.

@darkdrake13 oh yeah?? i have some questions- every time when i enter in tha dojo i see old people and ladies who cant even do the proper throw? -why they are so many unreal attacks, with low tech? -if i attack you with smart kicks and punches you would really counter me? -why do people in western dojos are untrained athletes who cant do exercise more then half an hour? -why is aikido in the wolrd underrestimated-because its so effective (haha) and has many champions (haha) ?

@SuperPurgatorio The attacks are ''unreal'' for demonstration purposes.Depending on the dojo, you may practice traditional aikido or practical aikido but with years of practice, even the traditional becomes practical.You may not understand alot of what I've just said until you actually start practicing martial arts.And If you have the balls, go grab an aikido-ka by his sleeve or his wrist or even try pushing him, you will see wether it is effective or not.

Merci!

But aikikai aikido is just one of many variants. It isn't the best or the most efficient or the most important or the coolest. It is probably the best known in the western world and one of the most focused on non violence. But all variants are equally interesting and efficient, but focus on different aspects.

@SuperPurgatorio See it as a decendant of jiu jutsu.Aikido is underestimated because it isn't a fighting art, its a self-defense art that was created around a philosophy of love and peace.You can attack me with smart kicks and punches, I'll counter you with smart movements and grabs, it all depends on the experience, the reflexes and the intelligence of the martial artist, and that applies to every martial art.
@watsupbigros
@watsupbigros 11 жыл бұрын
